Reasons to vote, number #6 – councils that actually serve the people
Ever wonder why your council’s services aren’t particularly good any more?
That’s a Conservative feature!
They cut funding at a national level and then – if you’re unlucky enough to live in a Tory-run council area, they cut services that poorer people are likely to need or use.
And they couldn’t care less about helping people in an emergency.
Here’s the classic example of modern times:
https://twitter.com/Rachael_Swindon/status/992004269615255552
“Tory-run Kensington & Chelsea Council, which still hasn’t found new homes for two-thirds of those families affected by the Grenfell tragedy, has £21 million for affordable housing sitting unspent, not doing a single thing. Remember this disgrace when you vote today.”
If you have a chance to vote today, vote for somebody who will help.
