Terminally-ill woman forced to walk to doctor’s on crutches by Tory cruelty

Tracey Mills.

Stealing vital transport from the terminally-ill – that’s “compassionate Conservatism” for you in this day and age.

Tories once claimed that they would not penalise the terminally-ill. Clearly that has changed and they don’t care who they persecute.

Perhaps they are not saving enough benefit money by forcing the genuinely sick and disabled onto Universal Credit?

Perhaps – and this is more likely – they simply get a kick out of watching those near death struggle to live for just a few more days.

The people facing this persecution may be sick, but the Tory government is sickening.

A woman with terminal cancer says she was forced to walk to an emergency doctor’s appointment on crutches – after she was deemed too healthy for a mobility car.

Tracey Mills, 53, from Mossley, Greater Manchester, was previously granted a vehicle through Disability Living Allowance (DLA) after she was diagnosed with a brain tumour several years ago.

But when a new assessment was carried out after the government’s new Personal Independence Payment (PIP) came into force, Tracey’s disability benefits were reduced.

She was found to be too fit to qualify for a car, so the automatic Ford Focus she relied on to get around was taken away.

Yes – this is one of the hidden results of DWP/govt. policy against the ill. Unless this affects a person i.e.. cannot get to doctors, hospital etc. it is not mentioned by anyone else. I have not been to doctors in months, not because I don’t need to, but because I cannot get there. However, when attending the PIP assessment, their attitude is ‘You haven’t been to the doctors in the last ? months, therefore, you cannot be ill.’ I am sure this is happening to many ill people at assessments, plus not receiving medical care at doctors surgery, including not attending hospital for treatments.

If an ill person relies on friends and neighbours to access this help, there is a limit to how many times we can ask them. My priority when seeking help is to ask for food shopping, as without food we die.

I am thankful I am nowhere as ill as Tracey. I said her my good wishes.

That is exactly my situation except I feel my doctor is against me, because when I have appointments I have to cancel because panic attacks and my mobility is bad because of abusive injuries caused when i was an infant, I have been found fit for work as a result!

I have lots of sympathy but why is she even driving with a brain tumor? If her partner is driving then why isn’t the car in his/her name?

The Tories seem to have forgotten what the purpose of Social Security is, it’s not about forcing people to work and punishing those who don’t/can’t, or about saving money, it’s about providing for those in need and protecting the wellbeing of the poor, sick and vulnerable.

Joanna – It is none of our business whether Tracey drives – it is between her, her GP and the DVLA. Nowhere in the article here, or the full article, does it state whose name her previous car was in – and again this is none of your business.

I am only commenting , which I have a right to do just as you have the same right! I don’t care whether or not You think it is any of my business!!!

It’s outrageous that this government has been allowed to inflict this harsh treatment on the sick and disabled – the DWP have been severely condemned by the UN for their blatant discriminatory against those with mental health impairments…when will something be done about their evil actions
