Labour: No McDonnell coup this year – again

Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell: Get used to solidarity, folks.

Amid the usual doom and gloom it’s pleasant to welcome this acknowledgement – and debunking – of a regular event by the person at the centre of it.

I hand you over to Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell:

Next year: More of the same.

John has often explained that he has had two heart attacks and doesn’t want another one! He and Jeremy are long standing friends and comrades. Jeremy is doing just fine as a popular “fronts man” and John providing ideas, policies and strategies from the background. They make a very good team.

Here’s to Jeremy Corbin, John McDonnell and the ‘Team’ and long may they thrive!
I admire them all tremendously for what they’ve had to face up to and face down in recent years. They stand for all that I hold dear in this bleak, blasted wasteland of neo-liberal scheming, greed, fraud, corruption and moral bankruptcy posturing as ‘gentile conservatism’ to guile the ageing, leafy suburb voter!

John’s most significant contribution to the TUC Congress was to present the Labour Party as the political wing of the Labour movement. Not just an embarrassing alliance with the unions that can easily be dissolved.
