Tory corruption: Rich MPs get food and drink debts written off. If you’re poor, you have to pay!

Last Updated: January 1, 2019By Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

Parliament: Apparently it’s not where the country is governed, but actually a place in which the filthy rich are encouraged to steal money from the very poor – nowhere more blatantly than in the bars and restaurants.

It’s the highest office in the land, yet who do we vote into it? The lowest excuses for humanity.

The Torygraph, of all mainstream rags, has revealed that four MPs, along with a peer, 21 tradespeople and a member of staff at the Houses of Parliament, have had outstanding food and drinks bills written off, to the value of more than £17,000.

They had refused to pay.

MPs earn a minimum of £77,379 a year, and peers take home £305 for every day they attend Parliament. But apparently that isn’t enough for them and they need to default on the bills in that organisation’s bars and restaurants – establishments that are subsidised by your taxes, remember.

Imagine if you had racked up a huge bill at such an eaterie – and then failed to pay. Do you think the owners would write off your bill?

No?

Do you think you’d be taken to court and forced to pay a lot more instead?

It seems more likely, doesn’t it?

So the question arises: Why are these – unnamed – culprits being allowed to force us – the taxpayers – to foot the bill for their gross indulgences?

I don’t know about you but I think that’s misuse of my tax money. We already pay these entitled oafs enough, especially considering the state of the nation, which is thanks to them.

It’s another example of Tory corruption. They allow this because they think our money belongs to them.

We need to find out who the thieves – yes, they’re thieves – are.

And we need to clear them out of Parliament.

I have not read the full Telegraph article but do not condone any wilful avoidance of meeting one’s debts. These events happened over a period of eight years, the MPs and peer may no longer be sittimg members, and there is no indication of their party affiliation. The decision to write off the sum is not made by government or a political party but by the Administration Committee which is responsible, among other matters, for Catering in the Commons and Lords. The Committee is cross party and comprises five Conservative, five Labour and one Scottish National Party members.
There is no evidence to support the accusation that this is “another example of Tory corruption”

Oh no? And who’s in office while these write-offs are allowed to take place?

      • Robbie January 2, 2019 at 2:16 pm - Reply

Irrelevant – it is not a party or government decision but one of parliament – ie all parties.

        • Mike Sivier January 2, 2019 at 3:49 pm - Reply

You go right ahead and believe that.

I will until someone, perhaps Mike Sivier, produces concrete evidence that this is corruption and not simply personal bias and a seeming lack of knowledge in the processes and procedures of the Administration Committee and its parent body, the Commission.

Oh, it’s clearly corruption – these people have been let off a huge bill and the public has been forced to pay it instead.

As I said i do not condone the wikful avoidance of meeting one’s debts but you obviously know the reasons behind the decisions to write off so rather than speculate that it is corruption perhaps you could list them, please.

or direct me to where I can read them. Thank you

These are the real “scroungers”. As the public are paying their debts we have a right to know who these scroungers are.

    • Mike Sivier January 2, 2019 at 1:06 pm - Reply

There’s an actual word to describe them: Moochers!
Thanks to Michael McNulty for the tip-off.

Running up a food or drinks bill you knew you couldn’t or wouldn’t pay used to be an offence called mooching, as in Minnie the Moocher. It was particularly common during the Great Depression but these people have the money to pay. They’re just crooked.

    • Mike Sivier January 2, 2019 at 1:05 pm - Reply

Moochers- brilliant. Perhaps we should start asking all our MPs: “Are you a moocher?”

      • Rik January 2, 2019 at 5:55 pm - Reply

lol . . I used to be a smoocher back in the day . .

        Seriously though they’re a bunch of me’s & get away with murder . .

Agree point that they should be named and shamed if an administration function is going to generously write-off their debts……it is still a business function of their attending parliament paid for by the public purse not a friggin charity..

Compare and contrast with the British women rescued from arranged marriages who have to take out loans to cover the cost of their own rescue! The Foreign Office said emergency loans were used to remove vulnerable people from high-risk situations when there were no other options available to them but “as they are from public funds, we have an obligation to recover the money in due course”.
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-46733028
So what happens to this money which is also from public funds? One rule for the rich and one for the poor – again?

I’m pretty sure it’s not just the Tory’s , look at some of the labour MPs as well ,the so called workers party .

I really don’t care which side of the aisle they have occupied, they are still degenerates.
Who’s going to make these thieves pay their way? Certainly not the government. These “entitled” scammers should be made to pay back what they owe to the British tax payers and then fined the same about to be donated to a food bank.
