This is the kind of corruption you can expect from Boris Johnson and his cronies

Inferno: The Grenfell Tower blaze caused the greatest single loss of life in London since World War II, with official figures showing 72 people lost their lives.

Welcome to the age of corrupt Conservatism.

Now that Boris Johnson has a large majority in the House of Commons, he knows he can do what he likes – so he’s rubbing our noses in it.

This Writer is willing to bet that the decision to appoint someone to the Grenfell Tower inquiry who has links to the company which made the cladding blamed for accelerating the blaze is a deliberate signal.

He’s saying the inquiry will find no fault with any of the organisations that created the conditions that resulted in the blaze.

He’s saying the lives that were lost at Grenfell – and any lives that may be lost in the future because flats have been clad with flammable material – are of no interest to him at all.

He doesn’t care about you poor people. And if you voted for him, more fool you.

On 16 January, the Guardian revealed that:

Boris Johnson appointed a key figure to the Grenfell Tower inquiry who has links to the company which made the cladding blamed for accelerating the fatal fire

Johnson chose Benita Mehra, who previously headed “an organisation that received a £71,000 grant from the charitable arm of Arconic, the US conglomerate that made the aluminium composite cladding panels used on Grenfell”.

As the Guardian continued, the Grenfell inquiry:

‘has already found that Arconic’s polyethelyne-filled panels were “the principal reason why the flames spread so rapidly up the building”.’
