‘Compassionate Conservatism’: Covid deaths to cut state pension costs, says BBC

This BBC story could explain much about the Corporation’s wholehearted support for Rishi Sunak, even though he’s utterly vile.

The Beeb presents as a good news story the deaths of so many over-65s that the cost of paying pensions is set to plummet by £1.5 billion by 2022.

And wait! because there’s even more Good News!

The government will also receive an extra £0.9bn from inheritance tax, partly due to Covid-related deaths.

Every cloud has a silver lining, eh? As in thirty pieces of silver, if you recognise the reference.

Here’s an interesting slip, though:

More than 144,000 deaths involving Covid-19 have occurred in the UK since the start of the pandemic, figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show.

That’s 21,000 more than the official figure of 123,000 at the time of writing.

I think somebody’s been lying again – don’t you?

The Tories knew, as Blair was told back in 2005, that pension age rise would result in a high increase of people long dead before retirement, which came to pass from 2011 pension age rise.

The 1950s women (followed by 1960s ladies) had an increased early death rate, aged in our 50s and 60s.

Never having received any kind of pension.

The actuaries and insurance / assurance / pension industry had also noted a higher increase of people dying early in their retirement and higher pensioner death rates, since austerity began.

This is the Tory government that Labour fought so hard to keep in power, making Labour equally at fault for excess deaths, pension age rise deaths, and now Covid19 / excess deaths of people over 60.

Come on – the report does not say ‘good news’ anywhere!
    The tone is neutral.

Each to their own opinion. I think this is an attempt to portray the deaths as good news because it creates a cash saving for the government. Note that nowhere in the BBC story are the deaths presented as tragic, even though that is what they undoubtedly are. The focus is only on the money.

The deaths of thousands and thousands over 65s from coronavirus will reduce cost of state pensions by £1.5 billion! Why isn’t this good news front page headlines in malestream media??? After all this is what the fascist callous vindictive tories like to hear and read – that our public money is not going to those non-humans who have the audacity to claim state pensions!

State sanctioned mass murder instigated by little fascist dictator dick johnson and his criminal gang of ministers continues unabated and furthermore the number of deaths from coronavirus is now 144,000 not the static figure of 123,000!

But hey what’s a few thousand deaths given the fascist tories want to rid themselves of all women and men who are claiming state pensions, are disabled, unemployed, impoverished or suffering from long term ill health! The only ones fascist tories want to live are those disposable healthy women and men who are fascist tories’ slave labour force!

And stupid women and men still believe the fascist tory lie that little england is a democracy not a fascist one party dictatorship!

hi do you know why the budget hasnt uplifted legacy benefits.? im disabled and am finding it very expensive since the virus began i spent alot of time in and out of hospital last year..having to get cabs to all appiintments..cost of my shopping has doubled and having to pay delivety charges aswell..i am now falling behind with my other bills which wwee affordable before the virus..a 0.35 pence increase to legacy benefits is pathetic…and discrimination against the more needy.. i tried to email mp and had no responae atall.. the gov is a total disgrace to this country..with no regard for human life..
they got what they wanted.. killed loads of penaioners and disabled persons so there would not be debt associated with the virus.. infact in 3-5years thet would have mass profits from the loss of lives during the Pandemic.. keep the good work up Mike stay safe n well stella

I think you know why legacy benefits aren’t being increased. Tories love to persecute the sick and disabled.
