Why did Gideon Falter bring this high-level security guard to a pro-Palestine march?
It seems one of Gideon Falter’s entourage at an event where he claimed police were anti-Semitic was a bodyguard for Israel’s president and ambassador. Why did Gideon Falter bring this high-level security guard to a pro-Palestine march?
This Site has published two previous articles about Falter’s claims – here and here – in which they have been debunked. As ever, that is my view at the time of publication and if information comes to my attention that comprehensively refutes it, I’ll update accordingly.
But for now, it seems clear that Falter’s claim of anti-Semitism against the police officer who stopped him from “crossing the road” through a pro-Palestine march in London on April 13 this year is false.
The officer made it clear that he wasn’t stopping Falter solely because he was “openly Jewish” but because he was behaving in a provocative way, trying to walk against the flow of the march with his (quite large) group.
It seems clear that the fear was that Falter would stir up anti-Jewish sentiment by making it clear that he, a Jewish man, with a Jewish group, was trying to disrupt the march.
Now we learn that one of the group has strong links to the Israeli government, via his employment:
The gentleman guarding Gideon Falter here is an employee of the SQR Security Group, which was founded and headed by two veterans of the external Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.
He has been pictured providing security for the Israeli President and Ambassador to the UK. https://t.co/Ti64pvRESa

Some have taken this to be evidence that Falter was co-ordinating his actions with the Israeli government (see Ashok Kumar’s comment below):
So turns out this guy with Gideon Falter of the so-called Campaign Against Antisemitism, works for SQR Group which provided security for the Israeli President Isaac Herzog last December. His name is Vicentiu Chiculita.
The firm also happens to be run by two ex Mossad officers!… https://t.co/cTVB1bcIL6 pic.twitter.com/jbw95DhRBv

That’s a bit of a stretch. It is feasible that Falter had contracted this man’s firm independently, or even on recommendation from people he may know in the Israeli government, without having to build up a conspiracy theory between them all.
But that just brings us back to the question: why did Gideon Falter bring this high-level security guard to a pro-Palestine march?
That’s not normal behaviour when a person goes for a walk. It lends credibility to the policeman’s concerns that Falter was deliberately trying to provoke pro-Palestine marchers; he had brought some “muscle”, possibly to ensure that he would not be hurt by the consequences of his actions.
Put it all together and it seems clear that the Metropolitan Police were premature in offering their apology to Falter for the behaviour of the police officer in the video clip he offered as evidence – especially as it seems from the clip above that Falter also attracted the attention of other officers at the same event.
This calls into question the decisions of political figures like Suella Braverman and Rishi Sunak, who were fooled by Falter into making pronouncements on the matter before they had all the information:
And Sunak !
He was very quick off the mark. https://t.co/eUu5OuwUmS— Clare Hepworth OBE (@Hepworthclare) April 23, 2024
Sunak has now said he has confidence in Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley (but don’t pay too much attention to the BBC report, which gives far too much prominence to Falter’s side of the story).
Finally: some of us are seeing the funny side of this. The following is certainly one interpretation of events:
'I was walking back from synagogue when I happened to bump into a Mossad security agent and a film crew. I urgently needed to cross the road directly against the flow of a huge demonstration, and so I accused the police of antisemitism…' pic.twitter.com/gk6IddTVhm
