Will the date of a general election be set for July 4? Rishi Sunak is to make an announcement at 5pm.

He seems to be caving in to pressure from his opponents to call an election and put us all out of our misery – including his own Conservative party.

Commentators are saying his ministers think he is mad.

He’s 20 points behind in the polls and they don’t think he has enough to offer the public in order to change millions of minds.
