Harrow Independents announce their next meeting

Pamela Fitzpatrick has won the support of Ken Loach in Harrow West

Here’s another celebrity endorsement: Pamela Fitzpatrick has won the support of Ken Loach in Harrow West.

The film director wrote:

“As a defender of international law, Pamela opposed the illegal war in Iraq and condemns all war crimes wherever they are committed, as now in the massacres in Gaza. This, when Sunak and Starmer collude in these atrocities, by both agreeing to continue to supply Israel with arms.

“Pamela is a formidable champion for the people, regardless of the personal cost she has paid. She is a principled woman of great strength and commitment.

“When little of substance divides Labour from the Tories, Harrow West could elect a remarkable MP on July 4. May I urge you to support Pamela Fitzpatrick, a true independent?”

Ms Fitzpatrick was delighted with the endorsement, as you can see for yourself:

The former Labour Party member has announced her verdict on that party’s manifesto – and it is damning:

Ms Fitzpatrick was applied to be the party’s General Secretary after Keir Starmer became leader – but was instead expelled from the party on the flimsy grounds that she had given an interview to the proscribed left-wing newspaper Socialist Appeal – a year before it was branded a menace by Starmer and his cronies.

There was no way Ms Fitzpatrick could have known that she was talking to anybody who would be branded undesirable by Labour’s leaders when she gave the interview, and her retrospective expulsion for that reason sparked outrage when it became public knowledge in November 2021.

She seems well-placed to defeat Harrow West’s current – Labour – MP, Gareth Thomas, a Blairite and a member of Labour Friends of Israel who has held the seat since 1997, albeit with a greatly reduced majority since 2019.

But – like all Independent candidates – she needs help. If you are in Harrow West or can get there, can you help her?

In fairness, I should make it clear that she is one of seven candidates standing in the constituency. The others are:

  • Abbas Merali (Conservative Party)
  • Rupert George (Green Party)
  • Bharatkumar Ishverbhai Patel (Independent)
  • Gareth Thomas (Labour/Co-operative Party)
  • Chris Noyce (Liberal Democrats)
  • Michael Beavis (Reform UK)

I’ve said this elsewhere and will repeat it here: if you are a voter in Harrow West, This Site urges you to examine carefully each candidate’s election material, coupled with their parties’ manifestos (if they’re in a party and it has one), then work out which individual candidate’s plans coincide most closely with what you, personally, need.

Then vote for that candidate on July 4 (or by postal vote, if you have one, before that date).

Do not pay attention to the party mouthpieces urging you to vote tactically to “keep ——* out”. Tactical voting simply doesn’t work; we have four consecutive Tory election wins in our recent past to demonstrate that.

And it means you would be voting against your own best interests. Don’t do that.

Vote for what you need. How can you expect politicians to make things better if you don’t tell them how?

*Whichever party they think is the greatest threat to their own.
