Nearly one-twelfth of Gaza’s people have been murdered by Israel. Do you still think it isn’t a genocide?

The world’s oldest – and most respected? – medical journal, The Lancet, has analysed data on the number of Palestinian deaths in Gaza since October 7 last year – and found that the number of deaths caused by Israel’s genocide in Gaza is as high as 186,000.

In its report, the peer-reviewed scientific health journal states that using an estimate of four ‘indirect’ deaths for every person killed by bombs, bullets and shrapnel – which it considers a low ‘conservative’ ratio, the number of people killed so far by Israel, since it killed an ‘immense’ number of its own people on 7 October during the Hamas raid, is horrifyingly far higher than any official number:

Applying a conservative estimate of four indirect deaths per one direct death to the 37 396 deaths reported, it is not implausible to estimate that up to 186 000 or even more deaths could be attributable to the current conflict in Gaza.

The tactic of Israel and its cheerleaders – including, shamefully, the US and UK governments – has so far been to rubbish the ‘Hamas’ figure, even though death and injury statistics published by the democratically-elected authority in previous assaults have proven accurate.

Bear in mind that half the population of Gaza are children – meaning it seems that Israel has killed nearly 100,000 of them. And Keir Starmer still supports Israel.
