Is this more hypocritical cronyism from the Labour Party?

Is this more hypocritical cronyism from the Labour Party? It seems so.

After the appointment of donors like Ian Corfield and Emily Middleton to top civil service jobs, it now transpires that Labour gave a security pass for 10 Downing Street to its top donor, Lord Waheed Alli [pictured].

The pass was issued on a temporary basis and has since been returned, but the Conservatives are demanding to know why it was issued at all.

Shadow Paymaster General John Glen said:

“A Downing Street pass should be a privilege reserved for those that require access for work, including civil servants and special advisers, not those requiring occasional access,” he wrote in his letter.

“It is therefore deeply concerning that a pass was granted to a Labour donor providing unfettered access to the heart of government after significant cash and non-cash donations were made to the Labour Party.”

According to the BBC:

Lord Alli has donated more than £500,000 to Labour over the past 20 years and was the party’s chief fundraiser for the general election.

The TV executive was appointed to the House of Lords by Tony Blair in 1998 and has recently led fundraising for the Labour Party, as well as donating to individuals including Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

Hang on a second! So he’s a Labour lord? Shouldn’t that be enough reason for him to be able to get into Downing Street?

It seems there may be more – or less – to this story than we have been led to believe.

But the Tories are right to raise these concerns – even though it is hypocritical of them, as a party that practised rampant cronyism for years during the last few Tory and Tory-led governments.

It is even more hypocritical of Labour to be practising cronyism now, after criticising the Tories for all those years.

And it suggests that the Labour Party in government now is just as corrupt as the Conservative administration it replaced.

for the sake of Britain and the British people, Starner and his whole, self serving, corrupt, bought and paid for front bench, must be forced to resign, and be replaced by decent, genuine labour MPs. Labour
