I wonder…
There have been major demonstrations demanding negotiations between the Israeli government and Hamas on the return of hostages, but Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu [pictured] has shown no interest.

Now, after six Israeli hostages were found to have been murdered minutes before they could have been rescued, he says there is even less reason to talk.
Also now – and apparently separately – the UK has suspended 30 of its 350 arms export licences to Israel, on the grounds that the weapons could be used in Gaza to “violate international law“.
The cessation of these exports won’t harm Israel’s offensive capabilities – all 350 UK arms export licences comprise only one per cent of Israel’s imported weaponry.
But it sends a message – doesn’t it?
It says the UK is not happy with Israel’s conduct.
And it invites other countries to send a similar message.
And, coming right after the hostages were found, is it really unreasonable to make a connection?
I wonder…
