The only part with which I would quibble is the question of young people – or indeed anyone on benefits – having a choice between taking a job that is bad for their health or staying on benefits. If they’re able-bodied, they don’t. That’s why so many are identifying as sick or disabled.
The answer is not to redefine illness and/or disability but to legislate so employers offer better jobs. That would logically be the responsibility of the Department for Work and Pensions.
So here’s the big question:
