Brace yourself for a shock: Labour has been outed as Not A Socialist Party.
Media pundits may have to reorient themselves after the Telegraph‘s Tim Stanley made the revelation on the BBC’s Politics Live today (Monday, March 24, 2025).
He said it during a debate that was nominally about Rachel Reeves’s forthcoming Spring Statement. As it seemed clear that none of the panellists wanted to discuss the actual issues facing the Chancellor, he may have decided to speak up, just for the sake of having something worth saying.
See – and hear – for yourself. The participants are Rachel Taylor MP, Lord Frost and the afore-mentioned Mr Stanley, chaired by Jo Coburn. Liberal Democrat MP Munira Wilson was also present but I’ve cut her comments:
