Famine in Gaza: UN confirms what Israel and UK denied – proving Vox Political right

The famine that politicians said wasn’t happening has now been officially declared in Gaza City and surrounding areas.

The UN-backed Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) has raised the territory’s hunger level to Phase 5 — catastrophic, confirming that more than half a million people face starvation, destitution and death.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres called it a “failure of humanity”.

UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini described it as “starvation by design & man-made by the Government of Israel”.

The UN human rights chief Volker Türk said famine is “the direct result of actions taken by the Israeli Government”.

Vox Political warned this was coming

When others scoffed, this site pointed out (and the linked article is just a representative example) the warnings from aid agencies, humanitarian groups and eyewitnesses on the ground. It was clear that Israel’s systematic obstruction of aid, coupled with the complicity of Western governments, would cause mass starvation.

Now the famine is here.

Israel still denies it. Netanyahu insists Israel is “preventing” famine, despite evidence that civilians are literally wasting away. The UK government is still clinging to a narrative of concern, while continuing to supply weapons and political cover.

Denial exposed as lies

Remember:

  • Politicians here said there was no famine. They were wrong.

  • They said aid was flowing in sufficient quantities. The UN says it isn’t.

  • They said they wanted peace. Yet they refused a ceasefire and an arms embargo, and they continue to delay recognition of Palestine.

This is complicity.

UK responsibility

Foreign Secretary David Lammy now calls the famine a “moral outrage”. But his own Labour government, in lockstep with the Conservatives and Reform UK, has refused every serious demand: a ceasefire, halting arms sales, sanctioning Israel, recognising Palestine immediately.

Their words are meaningless while their actions sustain Israel’s war.

The human cost

Behind every statistic are real people.

  • Parents who cannot feed their children.

  • Children wasting away from malnutrition — 132,000 under-fives are now at risk.

  • Families forced to scavenge because aid is blocked.

One mother told the BBC her four-year-old has never tasted fruit or vegetables. Another said her healthy five-year-old is now half her former body weight.

This is man-made famine — imposed, prolonged, and defended by governments that knew what was happening and lied about it.

Vox Political‘s verdict:

When the genocide in Gaza began, Israel denied it. Now the famine has been declared, Israel denies that too.

And what about the UK? Labour, Conservatives and Reform all parrot the denials, while supplying weapons and refusing decisive action.

They are not just on the wrong side of public opinion. They are on the wrong side of humanity.

Vox Political was right: famine was coming.

They said it wasn’t; they lied.

How many more lies will we let them get away with while people starve?
