US vetos UN ceasefire resolution for Israel/Gaza – and UK abstains

Last Updated: December 9, 2023By Tags: , , , , , , , ,

After United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres invoked Article 99 of the UN Charter to call for a ceasefire in Gaza, claiming that the conflict between Israel and Hamas there is a threat to world peace, the United States vetoed it.

Worse than that, the UK abstained.

The will of the minority prevailed that day. Was it because the United States is selling weapons to Israel?

Here are a few comments on what happened:

Adding insult to injury, the United Kingdom’s representative said Israel must be “targeted and precise”, and “civilians must be protected” – ignoring all the evidence to the contrary:

And the result?

Israel is already suffering an economic downturn because of its genocidal war of extermination in Gaza. Will the United States face the same?

And at a time when the UK’s economy is particularly vulnerable, can the damnfool Conservative government really afford to attack the national interest in this damnfool way?

Not surprised the callous and despicable fascist tory fake government have vetoed UN ceasefire resolution. Given the fascist tories are responsible for directly causing deaths of innumerable disabled women and men as well as others who had the ‘audacity’ to claim their rightful state financial aid!

The stupid claims being uttered by fascist tories are almost unbelievable as evidenced by this latest stupid comment. ‘ the United Kingdom’s representative said Israel must be “targeted and precise”, and “civilians must be protected” – ignoring all the evidence to the contrary.’

Do the stupid fascist cruel and callous tories really think we peasants are so stupid that we cannot recognise contradictions and fake justifications issued by them?

Time UK leaves the UN because current fascist tories have violated so many international laws as well as our own national ones. We don’t have a government we have a dictatorship! Even worse Russia and China are using the fascist/zionist Israeli regime to score points by claiming to be humane whereas the UK and US are demonstrating they don’t care about the mass genocide of Palestinians by their bros the fascist Israeli regime!

Was just wondering if we will ever have a Labour Party again which is truly a Socialist Party and Left Wing preferably! I can’t tell any difference from a Conservative Party. I suppose there isn’t much hope now. I’m 82 and remember fondly the likes of Harold Wilson. Now we have Keir Starmer, pretending to be a Socialist but even worse than a Conservative. Sorry, I mustn’t ramble on but just felt I would like to be able to turn the clock back a little and have some honest politicians who really cared about us ordinary folk and looked after the NHS.

I remember Wilson. Just about. He’s said to have been the most intelligent prime minister the UK ever had.
