Kids Company sexual assault allegations add a darker side to Cameron’s complicity
Before these allegations came out, This Blog would have said the Kid’s Company fiasco was merely a symptom of David Cameron’s extreme lack of good judgement.
The logical comment would have been that, if you want to influence Cameron, all you have to do is adopt an extreme mode of dress and outlandish headgear (it worked for Camila Batmanghelidjh).
But now there are allegations of child abuse, and claims that the charity failed to address them properly.
Would it be wrong to point out that the Conservative Party – and indeed David Cameron’s government – is currently mired in accusations about one child abuse cover-up after another?
What, for example, has happened to the prosecution of Patrick Rock, the former Downing Street aide who allegedly kept many photographs of children being sexually exploited?
The Kids Company charity failed in its handling of allegations of serious incidents, including sexual assaults, former staff have said.
One former worker told BBC Two’s Newsnight that staff were told of complaints about a client who sexually exploited girls he met there, off site.
But she says these concerns were not passed on and Newsnight has established that authorities were not alerted.
The charity said it would have told police of any allegation it knew about.

“May I remind all concerned that Mr Rock has a right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”, which may account for why there’s little coverage.
Nah. Everyone is entitled to a fair trial and that has never stopped reporting of them in the past. It’s a public right to know court dates or reasons for a trial’s delay.
Sorry, my mistake, thought the article was 2015, not 2014. Now i agree it’s gone very quiet on his trial and it’s outcome.
