Third massive pro-Palestinian demonstration in London is huge success
A third – massive – demonstration of solidarity with the people of Gaza has taken place in London, attracting up to 100,000 people, according to the Metropolitan Police.
It was heralded by dire warnings of anti-Semitic sentiment and violence from the usual suspects. Here’s Tory Brexit failure David Frost:
I am astonished that for the third weekend in a row normal activity in central London is to be disrupted by another so-called 'national March for Palestine' demonstration. 👇
Are we to expect this every weekend for the foreseeable future, with all the disruption and intimidation… pic.twitter.com/XnMNULnUqa

Here’s UK Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, with a lying claim that the demonstrations were shows of open support for “the Hamas terrorists”:
EXCL: Britain’s Chief Rabbi tells me that British Jews are more fearful now than at any time since World War II.
We joined him on a visit to a synagogue in Leeds where he sought to reassure a very anxious community, as antisemitism soars. pic.twitter.com/toQwG43eex

His call for a more balanced, accurate and fair assessment of what is happening, by the media, is one that This Site would support, though; it is long past time the innocent Palestinians in Gaza had fair representation on our national news media.
There is no impartially-gathered evidence to show that anti-Semitism has increased in the UK.
And what happened?
Well, this should give an impression of the scale of the event:

There were very few incidents involving the police:
Officers policing the protest arrested a man in Waterloo Road just after 1.30pm
He was heard to shout racist remarks and was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and making threats to kill.
He remains in custody.

Our Deputy Commissioner Dame Lynne Owens has been to see our injured colleague in person at hospital.
He has a laceration to the head, but is in good spirits & appreciates all of your well wishes.
He will remain in hospital for treatment & is being looked after by colleagues. pic.twitter.com/WI6T6LDXYc

The last of the protestors who had gathered at Marble Arch have dispersed.
Today we have made 9 arrests:
7 for Public Order offences
2 for assaults on officersA number of the Public Order arrests are being treated as hate crimes. pic.twitter.com/CHtj67rTUe

It is sad that any incidents should have occurred that may be treated as hate crimes – but among a crowd of 100,000, this figure is vanishingly small.
Perhaps Rabbi Mirvis and Mr Frost were overstating their case, do you think?

Only a blog that regularly criticizes and attacks Israel would dare to make the claim that there is no impartially-gathered evidence to show that anti-Semitism has increased in the UK. You even criticized Kosher slaughter, or shechita, in one of your columns.
Even one act of anti-Semitism is too many, but here’s two of them for your edification: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/may/19/jewish-headstones-smashed-cemetery-abhorrent-antisemitic-manchester

Samuel Miller
Those show anti-Semitic incidents – but they do not show that the number of anti-Semitic incidents has increased since the October 7 attacks, especially as one of them is from 2016. I seem to recall writing an article criticising what happened then.
Shame on you, Samuel! After spending so many years fighting for accurate information on the victimisation of people with long-term illnesses and disabilities, I would have expected better from you on this!
100,000 women and men peacefully demonstrated their support for Palestinian women, children and men which makes an nonsense of the propaganda uttered by fascist tory David Frost! There was no widespread intimidation or violence and police boys only arrested 9 individuals!!
How dare women and men engage in peaceful protest action because don’t they know we live in fascist state wherein the fascist tories order us to obey them and never challenge their cruel and mendacious lies!
