Here’s the inconvenient truth that your lovable UK mass news media will be hiding from you today, if they cover Israel’s withdrawal from the remains of Al Shifa Hospital at all:

This is the hospital after the Israeli forces left it: an empty shell – a husk.

These X posts tell the story of what happened there better than I could:

Translated from the French, the following post states: “Al-Shifa hospital, the largest in Gaza, completely and methodically devastated by the Israeli army. An atrocious mass grave, piles of decomposing corpses, bodies flattened by armored vehicles. This is what the witnesses discovered. This is a new genocidal act.”

This was the situation on Sunday (March 31), according to Dr Mads Gilbert, a long-time volunteer for Palestinian healthcare:

“I just got this extreme msg. from Gaza’s MoH Dr. Yousef Abu-Al Rish about the Israeli siege on Al-Shifa Hospital, just now, Sun. March 31st. Read! Spread! Act! Demand concrete pressure on Israel from your government!

“It’s day 14 of the siege imposed on Al-Shifa Medical complex. Based on testimonies from the medical staff inside, the situation as follows; 107 patients ,most of them are severe cases that had been in the ICU, and 60 of the medical staff have been incarcerated in an old building in the hospital that does not have the capacity to host such number of patients nor the equipments. The situation as reported by many of the staff is horrific and inhumane; no ventilation, cleaning conditions, water, nor minimum medication has been provided leading to septic wounds with white flies out of them. Doctors mentioned that they ran out of gloves so they started using plastic bags when changing on wounds which ran out as well. In addition they reported the lack of elderly diapers, especially that 30 patients are bed ridden and use diapers and in intensive need of medical care and nursing that the limited number of staff is incapable of providing. Furthermore, patients’ companions are either executed, arrested or displaced to the south by the military which add another burden on the staff. Moreover, the military is starving the besieged patients and staff with no food or drinkable water provided for days. The staff representative tried multiple times to convey their needs to the military leadership, however; he was met by violation and mistreatment. Prior to every negotiation attempt, soldiers undress him and leave him half naked for 3 hours at least before meeting the concerned officer with ‘we will look into the matter and come back to you’ response, but they never did. In light of these horrific conditions, our already exausted medical staff started showing symptoms of fatigue and allergy and if no solution is pursued as soon as possible, the place will turn into a graveyard of patients and staff if it is not already the case.”

Amazing battlefield achievement. The IDF has just completed a 2 week operation on a Hamas command center that Hamas embedded within the Shifa Medical Center. Hamas used staff and patients as human shields in order to cause maximum civilian casualties as to create more criticism and pressure on Israel. The results are remarkable: – 6,000 civilians were evacuated by the IDF to keep them safe. – 200 Hamas terrorists were killed. – 500 Hamas terrorists have been captured. – *No civilian was killed*. Not one. This is unprecedented in urban warfare. Our military is learning and improving by the day. These results undermine the false claim that the IDF is targeting civilians. If we didn’t care about innocent lives, we’d have simply bombed the whole complex, without risking lives of our own fighters. Israel will continue until we remove Hamas and bring the hostages home. I’m proud to be Israeli and proud of the IDF, a beacon of light.

Here’s more evidence of what Israel actually did:

“No civilian was killed,” says Naftali Bennett.

Here’s an odd thing, though. People in the UK like Ed Miliband, who was highly vocal in condemning the Russian bombing of a maternity hospital as a a war crime in March 2022, are silent about the Al Shifa atrocity.

Clearly those in power in the UK are happy to let hospitals be destroyed if Israel is destroying them. One has to question what reason they have for such an attitude.

Looking at the devastation left by the Israeli occupying forces, This Writer is reminded of Refaat Alareer’s poem, If I Must Die, as recited by Khalid Abdalla at Trafalgar Square:

Imagine what it would be like – if a kite were flown for every Gazan who has been killed by Israel.

You wouldn’t be able to see the sky past them all.
