After 170 years, chocolate maker Cadbury has lost its Royal Warrant over trade with Russia.
King Charles has stripped it of its warrant after campaign group B4Ukraine urged him to remove Royal support from firms still operating in Russia after that country’s invasion of Ukraine. It named Cadbury’s current owner Mondelez, along with consumer goods firm Unilever, which has also lost its endorsement.
This is the first time in 170 years that the Birmingham-based chocolatier has not had a Royal Warrant; it was first awarded under Queen Victoria in 1854.
A Mondelez spokesperson said the firm was proud to have held a Royal Warrant in the past – and fully respected the decision.
