Are people really stupid enough to believe Hunt when he compares himself with Nye Bevan?

These are important points: Doctors already work week-ends. And the enhanced weekend service Jeremy Hunt demands is not possible because his government has underfunded the NHS and there aren’t the staff.

I know Diane Abbott is Marmite – some people like her but many others don’t. She is making perfect sense here, though.

And any attempt by Jeremy Hunt to compare himself with Aneurin Bevan is to be treated with contempt – for precisely the reasons she provides.

Many of us nearly choked on our cornflakes on Thursday morning. The shock was caused hearing the hapless Tory Party Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt on the radio, grandly comparing himself to Nye Bevan the Labour Party giant and architect of the NHS.Both men had clashes with doctors. But there the resemblance ends. Bevan, was one of the greatest politicians of his generation. He challenged the doctors because he was trying to found a universal health service free at the point of use. He believed “No society can legitimately call itself civilised if a sick person is denied medical aid because of lack of means”.

By contrast Hunt is trying to dismantle our Health Service and open the door to more private sector involvement. By virtually every measure NHS performance is deteriorating and waiting lists are spiralling. Hospital Trusts are racking up enormous debts because they are being asked to do more with less and nationally the NHS is wasting millions on the Private Finance Initiative. Targets for ambulance waiting times, A&E consultations, GP access and cancer referral times are all being missed.

Nye Bevan would have wiped the floor with the dishonest, corrupt smirking Hunt.

For the first time ever, I feel some sympathy for Jeremy Hunt. The poor man is quite delusional.

Agree completely the only one that is stupid is Hunt. Just look at the photograph. I’m sure that some Tories will condemn the JD’s but the vast majority now realise that giving in to the Tories will only make it worse for all of us in the long run.

Just recall what the Witch did to the Unions to see the results in the current jobs market.

Jeremy Hunt comparing himself with Nye Bevan, is like comparing the following:

chalk and cheese – night and day – cat and dog – apples and oranges –
old and new – left and right – good and bad – etc etc
