Government lies to former judges after criticism of migrant crisis response
Leading former judges and lawyers have criticised the government’s “slow and narrow” response to the migrant crisis.
Lord Phillips, former UK Supreme Court head, and Lord Macdonald, ex-director of public prosecutions, are among 300 to sign an open letter on the issue.
They say the offer to accept 20,000 refugees over five years is not enough. One retired judge said the UK could cope with taking in 75,000 a year.
The government said it had been at the forefront of the global response.

That comment from the government is a lie, of course.
Cameron refused to take in any refugees at all until public pressure forced him to cave in – his usual response when he realises the natural Tory position will damage his government’s chances of re-election.
These judges – and their 298 colleagues – are to be praised. Cameron and the Conservatives should be shamed.

Cameron telling lies, well what a surprise !!
OK, so retired judges claim the migrants have “a moral right to protection”. Protection from what may I ask? That is such a hypocritical statement by senior judges considering how little protection they give to honest hard working British citizens. Often denying them justice, ignoring perjury, ignoring lies in witness statements especially when made by police and lawyers. British judges a guilty of perverting the course of justice on all counts even to overriding the Rules of Court and twisting the intended meanings of laws.
I have a lot of sympathy for what you’re saying, but it’s a false argument. You’re comparing very different situations.
I’m afraid your correspondent is indeed comparing like with like. The Judges – who only pay 2% towards their pensions – are asking for what they consider justice, as is your correspondent. Justice is justice – unless you’re using sharia courts as a guide.
Well, no.
Of course judges are about justice, but that’s too wide a framework for what’s going on here. This is about law.
In one situation, they are saying the law provides for a thing to happen – in this case, protection – in an overarching way; these people have a right to protection under UK law. The other discusses the way judges interpret law – rightly or wrongly – in individual cases. The two things are not the same; one judge may disagree with another on the interpretation of law, but all should agree on protections allowed by law.
Do you see the difference?
The government lied, again, No..Really..Never!
this is the biggest lying, most corrupt govt we have ever had.
my god ! i thought Thatchers govt was bad,but this lot take the biscuit.
