Top UK earners will receive as much in benefits as the poorest by 2020

Osborne: He has been helping the rich all along, even though they don’t need it.

It will be interesting to see what the Tories who visit Vox Political have to say about this.

They have claimed that the wealthiest earners have been paying far too much, when in fact they have been granted just as much in benefit as the poorest.

This is even though the richest don’t need the money, while the poorest have been deprived of help they desperately need.

Among the poor, people have died because the Conservative Government has dumped them into poverty.

How many of our wealthiest earners have died because of what the Tories have done for them?

The wealthiest 20% of Britain’s earners will receive almost as much support from the state through the “shadow welfare” of generous tax-breaks by 2020, as the poorest fifth take home in benefits, according to a new analysis by the Fabian Society.

Iain Duncan Smith used his resignation letter from the cabinet to criticise the March budget as “unfair,”for juxtaposing reductions in benefits for the disabled with tax cuts for some of the wealthiest in society.

But Andrew Harrop, the Fabians’ general secretary, said his research shows the budget was just the latest step in a radical reshaping of the welfare state, which has shifted resources from the poorest in society to the better-off.

“By the end of the decade, if the Conservatives deliver on their manifesto promises, households in the top fifth of the income distribution will be receiving an average of £9,400 a year in tax allowances and welfare payments; while the poorest fifth of households, for whom benefits may be their only source of income, receive an average of £10,200,” he said.

Duncan Smith resigned over unfair choices between tax cuts for the rich and benefit cuts for the poor. But he spent six years in cabinet supporting welfare cuts and tax allowance rises which have together led us to the position where the basic financial help for a two-earner couple is higher than for an unemployed couple,” Harrop said.

So this is what Cameron meant when he said “We’re all in this together”.
Everybody gets the same the wealthiest 20% and the poorest 20% get the same amount to spend how they choose.

That’s right – except the poorest have to try to live on it while the wealthiest get in in addition to the unimaginable personal wealth they already have.

ah council tax ? the only thing you pay more and more for,for less and less services.
the whole thing is not fit for purpose, much like the government really.
all the fat cat salaries like £100,000 + for people running say half a county want looking at.no one in local government should be on more than an MP not that i’m saying MP’s should get more, these people in local government should get less than an MP.then perhaps less libraries etc would need to shut down.
