Never mind the environment – High Court rules in favour of North Yorkshire fracking

This is a bitter blow against the British environment.

The BBC report says campaigners had claimed in court the county council had not considered the impact on climate change and had not put provision in place for money to fund any remedial works.

The judge said councillors had, in fact, discussed climate change. But there’s nothing in the report about funding for remedial works.

They will be needed. Who will pay?

Anti-fracking campaigners have lost their legal challenge to a decision to allow fracking to take place in North Yorkshire.

Third Energy was granted planning permission to extract shale gas at Kirby Misperton in Ryedale in May.

Friends of the Earth and residents had challenged North Yorkshire County Council’s decision in the High Court.

Mrs Justice Lang ruled the council had acted lawfully. Campaigners said they were “devastated” by the decision.

So now I won’t need to go and see my friend in Oklahoma for earthquakes. I can just travel North from London or even south when they get going in Sussex too as they surely will. Even the outrageously Republican Oklahoma has temporarily stopped fracking while they have an enquiry into what they call their “earthquake swarm.”
But never mind, here we go ……

As long as councilors say “Climate change will be solved by technology” then they’ve discussed it, in law. Ghastly result of law not catching up with scientific literacy.

In this instance, the law is truly an ass! Mark my words, the taxpayers will end up paying for the inevitable environmental problems – there is enough evidence from the US.
