Decision to postpone Trump’s state visit shows the value of mass protest

Doesn’t this show that mass protest still works?

Let’s all arrange another co-ordinated series of protests against Mr Trump’s visit in June. Perhaps then he’ll get the message and call his junket off altogether.

Donald Trump’s trip to the UK will be postponed so that he can avoid protests.

Senior politicians and Theresa May hope that people will have forgotten about the President’s controversial policies by the time he arrives.

Mr Trump was invited to the UK by Ms May in January. But the move was immediately met by protests by both the public and Parliament, and the President is said to be concerned that he will be snubbed or embarrassed if he has his state visit in June as planned.

The so called president is a sensitive soul with a desperate nApp (need for approval). This is all part of his narcissism. That’s why he reacts badly to criticism and goes off on a form of petty childish retaliation descending to name calling and pouting. Much as he did when criticised by Meryl Streep or thwarted by the judiciary. This behaviour is unpleasant in small children and downright irrational in a grown adult.

Unfortunately it also means that, though we can expect an overreaction to criticism, we cannot predict the scale or nature of that overreaction, making him quite dangerous unless restrained by wiser heads.

However he has largely chosen to surround himself with sycophants or fantasists who have no concept of logical or consequential thinking but harbour deeply held prejudices and beliefs e.g. Climate change deniers or creationists etc. These people will encourage him in his worst excesses and support his lies as evidenced by the concerted attacks on news media that have the temerity to analyse and then criticise his diktats.

He has avoided set piece occasions where he can expect to be the butt of gentle teasing outside his control e.g. The recent White House correspondents dinner which he chickened out of. But he would not relish being openly protested against in a procession through the streets of London. Either May will have to order the police to suppress protests or risk the so called president having a hissy fit and then try to “get his own back” in retaliation which would seriously endanger the ‘special relationship.’

I suspect protests will be even louder after this; how insulting is it that they just assume a delay of four months will be enough simply to make everyone forget how much they despise Trump and what he stands for? Plus October is when the Tory Party Conference is happening, there’s bound to be another huge march and demo in Manchester at that time irrespective, so Trump can’t expect to avoid seeing protests then either.

    Hooray…a small but important victory.

This highlights May’s total lack of judgement and her desperation regarding “Brexit”.

So you think this has anything to do with remainer May’s desperation about having to enact what the democratic decision to leave a corruption ridden democratically deficient bloc entails.

Unfortunately, the protests don’t seem to have had any effect on our own so-called government. It says that Trump called the visit off. Him deciding that he doesn’t want to be embarrassed is not as good an outcome as it would have been if May had been forced to postpone. It would have been better if he had come and HAD been embarrassed or worse, ignored.
