Amplifier confiscation destroys all Boris Johnson’s work attacking Russia. Here’s how
Oh what a shame. After all his talk about opposing Russia, someone has pointed out that Boris Johnson imitates the repression of that country.
Labour’s Chris Bryant was pointing out that the removal of ‘Stop Brexit Steve’ Bray’s amplifiers, which he used to protest against the UK’s departure from the EU, was reminiscent of the kind of suppression of the people for which Russia used to be famous.
The equipment was taken under a clause of the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act that seems to have been written specifically in order to allow Mr Bray’s equipment to be removed.
In the clip you can hear Andrea Leadsom weakly trying to defend the draconian policy – but even she knows she’s on a hiding to nothing.
See/hear for yourself:

I would say that the almost total destruction of Corbyn by mis and disinformation from 2015 -2019 was also remeniscent of an authoritarian regime. Corbyn, of course, being portrayed as a Kremlin Stooge by the BBC when the exact opposite was true – all to tarnish someone to stave off change to the economic status quo.
Between this and the various orders that can be made (thinking specifically of those introduced in time for the 2012 Olympics) the police can be as oppressive as in any tin pot dictatorship and the public will not get to find out about much of it..
I’m reminded of people being arrested for holding signs in Moscow and thinking ‘that’d never happen here’ only for the government to try exactly that when protesters remind people they can decide to acquit regardless of instruction whilst outside the court. Luckily, after being kept dangling for a year, the court threw it out. I’m sure the next ‘justice bill’ will correct that tho..
