Renewed hostilities between Palestine and Israel can only end badly
I reckon I’m with Jeremy Corbyn on this:
The unfolding events in Israel and Palestine are deeply alarming.
We need an immediate ceasefire and urgent de-escalation.
And we need a route out of this tragic cycle of violence: ending the occupation is the only means of achieving a just and lasting peace.

Nothing good can come from the violence we have seen erupting from the Gaza Strip today (October 7).
But as long as the leaders of both Israel and Palestine are determined that violence is the only option in their struggles for mutually-exclusive goals, it will continue.
The deaths and injuries will increase – on both sides.
And there will be no solution at all.
Palestine – represented by President Mahmoud Abbas – has said the Palestinian people have the right to defend themselves against settler “terrorism and occupation forces”.
Hamas leader Mohammed Deif said: “We’ve decided to say enough is enough.”
“We have already warned the enemy before. The [Israeli] occupation [of Palestine] committed hundreds of massacres against civilians. Hundreds of martyrs and wounded died this year due to the crimes of the occupation.”
The following is well worth noting:
It must be emphasised that armed struggle by the Palestinian resistance against the occupier is legal under international law.

In contrast, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared a state of war. He said: “We are at war, not an operation, not an escalation, a war… We are in a war and we will win it.”
He has received many messages of support, including from UK politicians – most of whom are saying the same thing:
I am shocked by this morning's attacks by Hamas terrorists against Israeli citizens.
Israel has an absolute right to defend itself.
We're in contact with Israeli authorities, and British nationals in Israel should follow travel advice.

“Israel has an absolute right to defend itself.”
Yes, it does.
And Palestine has an absolute – and UN-endorsed – right to defend itself.
If they both continue defending themselves at the current rate, then hostilities will only end when there is nobody left to fight over the rubble.
And the constant support for war from people like Rishi Sunak will have fuelled it.
There has to be a better way.

“Renewed hostilities between Palestine and Israel can only end badly”. Truth. And remember that before the Ashkenazis were parachuted into a land which was already occupied, native Palestinians – Jewish and Moslem – seemed to co-exist quite peacefully.
When the French formed a resistance to the German occupation of their country they were hailed as heroes. They were limited by what they could do because of the German retaliation and subsequent collective punishment.
That collective punishment was denounced as illegal in the UN Charter but Israel can take these actions without being denounced through BDS which is labelled as illegal.
The Palestinians have suffered systematic and sustained ethnic cleansing for over 70 years with no “Right of Return” and the Palestinians formed a resistance to the illegal occupation of their homeland and are lambasted as “terrorists” and are still limited by what they can do because Israel does not recognise any Law passed by the UN or any other International Laws.
Until Israel is held accountable for it’s murderous pursuit of apartheid, illegal imprisonment, ethnic cleansing and Crimes Against Humanity there will be no resolution only the continued aggression against the Palestinians by the lawless Israelis.
Talk is cheap, but action is what we need and we won’t get that unless Israel is condemned for it’s actions in the illegally occupied lands of the Palestinians.
Carpet salesman Rishi Sunak should not be supporting war instead he must call for peace and an end to Israel’s invasion of Palestine. But as usual Sunak only sees another opportunity for profits because arms manufacturers will gleefully be selling their weapons to Israel!
