After bombing a hospital, Israeli air strike(s) hit church(es)
Today (October 20, 2023), this happened:
Bombing holy sites is a war crime under international law. Israel is bombing churches & mosques with impunity. When are you pro-Netanyahu freaks going to wake up to what it is you’re actually supporting? https://t.co/CiFFeD9egf pic.twitter.com/Xwl39PP1v8

If I’m reading the reports right, the BBC has not even bothered to report on the air strike above, because it has another church to mention:
“On Thursday, an Orthodox Christian church compound in Gaza City where church authorities say hundreds of people were sheltering was hit. Israel says its jets had targeted a nearby Hamas base used to fire rockets at its territory and it was reviewing the incident.”
So Israel isn’t even bothering to deny responsibility now; religious sites are considered to be nothing more than collateral damage.
I’m not sure whether Article 8 of the Geneva Convention is the right rule to quote, but it is certainly true that under international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, religious buildings are offered special protection. These international laws of war bar firing upon or from a religious building.
So: another Israeli war crime.
And how about this:
how are you mad at a reporter for wearing red green and black coincidentally😭😭😭😭😭????? pic.twitter.com/QwriKEqd4w

“What’s wrong with him?” the clip asks. What indeed! It seems that Israeli officials are now so used to throwing their weight around without being contradicted, that they are trying to dictate what people from other cultures are or are not allowed to wear.
Bravo to the interviewer for standing her ground.
Meanwhile the war of words in the UK’s social media continues unabated:
Jeremy Corbyn’s tweet claiming as fact that Israel was responsible for the catastrophic strike on the hospital in Gaza is still up, and has more than 11 million views. He ran to be Prime Minister. Responsibility matters. Words matter. And I say this as someone who has called for…
— Matthew Stadlen (@MatthewStadlen) October 19, 2023
What? Responsibility does matter. Sadly, Israel continues to refuse to take responsibility for its air strike, despite having initially done so; it then withdrew the announcement. How anybody can complain about Jeremy Corbyn in this context is bizarre.
Meanwhile, Rishi Sunak continued to show his true colours: failing to support Gaza…
"Are you concerned about the rising number of civilian casualities in Gaza and the humanitarian crisis there?"
Rishi Sunak ignores the question. So thats a no, then. pic.twitter.com/1QTFKt2hds
— Saul Staniforth (@SaulStaniforth) October 19, 2023
… and fawning to Gaza’s persecutor:
Prime Minister @netanyahu, I stand with you in Israel’s darkest hour.
I welcome your commitment to ensure routes into Gaza are opened for humanitarian aid.
I support your work to secure the release of hostages, to strengthen your security and to end the threat from Hamas. pic.twitter.com/ZrLJALTzBN
— Rishi Sunak (@RishiSunak) October 19, 2023
There are voices of reason:
Until a few years ago I also supported Israel over Palestine because I believed the BS version of history and events I was told
The majority of people angry and yelling at me haven't done a deep dive nor even visited Israel or the West Bank
Hamas Is a disgusting terrorist…
— Jake Shields (@jakeshieldsajj) October 19, 2023
And there are some less reasonable comments too:
So many celebrities happy to scream “Free Palestine” but not “Free the hostages” that were brutally snatched off the streets of Israel.
Why?

Meanwhile, it seems Israel may have split opinions within its own population – violently:
Israel is at war with Gaza, Lebanon, Syria & Iran, all of whom they’ve bombed this past week. But Israel is also at war with itself & the very real prospect of a civil war exists. Ben Gvir has just put 1,000’s of weapons into the hands of racist, messianic kahanist settlers …
— Phil Gould 🇵🇸🖕🥁 (@bongosaloon) October 19, 2023
… have all stated unequivocally their opposition to a Palestinian state, and these far right kahanist ‘militias’ have been given the green light to attack Arabs, leftists, secular Israelis, you name it. The pogroms seen in the West Bank earlier this year were just the start. pic.twitter.com/VNXRccEf7R

Finally, there’s this piece of right-wing lunacy – that tries to assert that demonstrations for peace in the Middle East are in fact the opposite. Why do the authorities never ask questions about this kind of hate-mongering?

And if you do want to join the protest:
🇵🇸🇵🇸 National March for #Palestine – Stop the War on #Gaza! 🇵🇸🇵🇸
Assemble: Sat 21 Oct – 12PM @ Marble Arch, #London
Last Saturday's demonstration was a spectacular demonstration of solidarity with the Palestinian people. We can't stop now.
Join us again tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/etdu7hFAwZ

what would have happened if the British Government bombed and shelled the Falls Road after an IRA terrorist attack?
There is footage of it being fired from gaza and it went wrong. It was not the IDF.
Is that the footage that was withdrawn because the timestamp showed it was shot 40 minutes AFTER the air strike hit the hospital?
No, is the answer.
Then the question has to be: why would we trust anything coming out of the Israeli government and armed forces after so many lies?
I have noticed this as well.
It is unreal in the end of 2023, we humans let things like this monstrosity from Israel to happen. I am not a Jewish hater but I believe that Palestinians are been massacred without any rules and care for humanity, with the support from USA, UK and the rest…
No to Occupation of Palestine, Israel go elsewhere that land is not yours leave Palestinians alone.
During the week the Egyptians were asked “Why not open the Rafah crossing at the Egypt-Gaza border?” and they said that the IDF are Bombing it.
Look at BBC verify, the IDF have admitted it (for once) but given no reason why Destitute, Unarmed, Innocent Families should be attacked – Please Explain…..
Actually, Egypt and other surrounding Arab countries, have stated they won’t take them. They are worried about hamas terrorists. Egypt has enough problems as it is.
At last, something on which we can agree! This was my understanding as well, although events may move on in different directions now.
At last! I just read today that hamas have owned up to the atrocities and bombing the hospital. They fired a rocket and it went wrong. It was reported by an independent source. Will have to try and verify it. But it seems to hold up.
It’s such a shame the garzan people are so hated, feared and reviled. That’s hamas for you. Their own people won’t take them. The sooner hamas is gone, the better.
Where’s the link to this independent source so we can all verify it, then?
I think it was on gb news. I don’t note things I read or see. I will try to track it down.
Ah – well, if it was GB News, I shouldn’t worry about looking for corroboration.
I am only guessing. I do remember hearing it and reading it. I was on the phone at the time.
From a BBC article – A doctors’ group, Physicians for Human Rights Israel, said it filed a petition to Israel’s Supreme Court warning that Al-Quds hospital could not be evacuated.
“In its response, the state announced that it would not attack the hospital for the time being,” the group said, as it warned against harming civilians during combat, violating international law, and damaging medical services.
And they still deny Bombing Hospitals !
Why are your posts coming through labelled as from WordPress.com instead of from Vox Political all of a sudden, Mike?
