Annie Lennox has donated handwritten lyrics of the 1983 Eurythmics hit Sweet Dreams to a charity auction raising money for medical aid in Gaza.

The charity Medical Aid for Palestine … is hosting a Cinema For Gaza charity auction with a range of one-of-a-kind donations from celebrities in the world of music, film and TV.

As well as Lennox’s lyrics, people are able to bid for an hour long Zoom chat with Louis Theroux, a bedtime story from Tilda Swinton, and a signed proof copy of Frankie Boyle’s upcoming book.

Currently, the highest bid for Lennox’s lyrics stands at £4000.

The auction itself has raised more than £60,000 so far.

This Writer can’t afford anything in the catalogue as I’m a penniless news-hack living in a garret with the back of my hand nailed to my forehead.

But if you can, please help this effort to save lives instead of slaughter them.

Ms Lennox caused a stir at the Grammy Awards in February when she raised one hand in a fist and announced: “Artists for ceasefire. Peace in the world,” during an ‘in memoriam’ performance for musicians who passed away over the last year:
