Inflation may have fallen but prices are still sky-high
Don’t you get sick of stories that seem to be good news but actually aren’t? For example: Inflation may have fallen but prices are still sky-high.
The BBC wants you to think that happy days are here again because “some food prices” have dropped.
But the small print (or the facts published lower down the article) shows that “goods in the shops are still much more expensive than they were two years ago”.
This is a failure of government.
One of the government’s jobs is to keep the cost of living as low as possible, so the people who make the nation’s economy work get the best value for money possible.
The Tories are perennial failures at this task because they exist to make huge profits for the ‘big business’ people who fund them. They’re making out like bandits [see featured image].
Recently, those profits have come from above-inflation price hikes – This Site recently pointed out that Tesco increased prices to double inflation at a time when inflation was extremely high. The Tory government did nothing to curb this naked greed.
We may hope that a new government will make the necessary changes to bring the cost of living down again – but that certainly won’t happen if Keir Starmer’s Labour takes office.
They now take the ‘big business’ donations as well, meaning they are just as bad as the Tories in this respect – as in most others.
