The government’s Rwanda deportation law has been approved and here’s what it means:
The law allowing the Tory government to rule that Rwanda is a safe country, no matter what the facts say, and allowing it to send refugees there, has been passed by Parliament.
The Lords gave up their spirited defence of the rule of law and our – yes, our – human rights after sending the Bill back to the Commons no fewer than five times. Ultimately they agreed that they had failed to persuade Tory MPs in the elected house to change their minds and therefore had no choice but to give way to the will of the people.
It’s the will of the people because of the Tory landslide election victory in 2019, you see.
