It’s turning into a big month for the Office for Budgetary Responsibility: Did Reeves know her NI rise would hit employees rather than employers?
That’s right – according to the OBR, the increase in employers National Insurance contributions is going to hit employees harder.
Here‘s the BBC (you may have to scroll down a bit):
At the Budget, Reeves said employers will pay NI at a rate of 15% on salaries above £5,000 from April, up from 13.8% on salaries above £9,100.
The OBR has calculated that three quarters of the impact would be felt by employees as bosses hold back on pay rises and hiring in the face of higher wage bills.

The watchdog’s Prof David Miles said it was “very plausible” this would disproportionately affect lower-paid workers.
So this is a tax rise on working people, despite what Rachel Reeves said, it seems.
Did she know?
If she did not, then where is she getting her expert advice? From the back of a cereal packet, perhaps?
The take-home payoff is that Reeves and her prime minister, Keir Starmer, have stiffed working people after they said they would not.
… According to predictions, that is.
If those predictions come true, this Labour government will need to answer for them.
