You may have missed it among the torrent of opinions on Israel and Gaza, so here it is:

Promise to end destitution within five years and the election is won.

It’s a valid point, isn’t it?

The question is: why won’t Keir Starmer do it? Is he too heavily in thrall to big business by now?

With austerity, Brexit, poor handling of COVID, spiralling interest and energy costs and the ‘cost of living’ crisis then add to that the constant sleaze and corruption at it’s peak during Johnson’s leadership and the fact that the voters are just ‘fed up’ after 14 years it’s an open goal for Labour.

Starmer knows this and knows that by making a few basic promises and actually sticking to them he could get a landslide easily. He’s not interested. He’d rather ‘just’ win with him having reneged on any such promises (NB I see how loudly he makes promises and how quietly he reneges) and, perhaps, not break those promises that he DOES make prior to the election?

No vision, no values, no sense. He’s banking on Labour supporters not having anyone else to vote for. It’s a slap in the face for anyone with true Labour values.
