It’s not enough to watch from the sidelines – get involved in the new Labour government says Momentum, the left-wing Labour movement.
It has released a video calling for supporters to help persuade Keir Starmer’s government to make policy choices that reflect established Labour ideals in the future.
Here it is:
In an email to supporters, the organisation stated,
After 14 years of austerity, privatisation and inequality – the Tories have been booted out. Labour now has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reshape Britain’s economy in favour of the many, rather than the interests of an established few.

Progressive members of the Labour Party should feel inspired when seeing the reelection of socialist MPs such as Zarah Sultana, Apsana Begum and Olivia Blake, as well as the election of new socialist MPs like Lorraine Beavers and Stephen Witherden.
We must work with them to defend progressive policies; including proposals to end tax breaks for private schools, public ownership of rail, the New Deal for Working People and automatic voter registration.
We will continue to campaign for transformative policies, oppose anti-democratic actions by the Leadership, organise in support of socialists and train up activists to be part of the next generation.
Momentum will also be hosting a Zoom call on Monday, July 8 at 7pm, where Momentum’s Martin Abrams will be speaking alongside John McDonnell MP, Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP, Stephen Witherden MP and Olivia Blake MP on what a Labour victory means for the Left and how we must get organised.
