Starmer blundered in his defence of Israel arms sales

Already Labour is letting us down massively

Already Labour is letting us down massively with two enormous policy failures.

Remember election night, when so many Labour candidates came within an inch of losing to Independents who had sprung up in protest against Establishment politicians’ apparent support of Israel’s genocide in Gaza?

This Writer suggested on X that, as a result, Keir Starmer should modify his policy of unreserved support for Benjamin Netanyahu’s mass-murdering regime that has killed 16,000 Palestinian children already.

Alas, that was not to be. Instead, in his first conversation with Netanyahu as prime minister, Starmer discussed strengthening his government’s ties with the mass-murderers, and continuing the UK’s complicity in the slaughter.

Then, after Russia launched an airstrike on Ukraine that hit a children’s hospital in Kyiv, Starmer committed this act of monstrous hypocrisy:

So according to Keir Starmer, it is unacceptable for Russia to attack children – but entirely permissible for Israel to murder them by the thousands.

I wonder if he has even seen any of the images on the social media, that graphically illustrate Israel’s atrocities against these children.

Yes, he did call for a ceasefire, the return of remaining hostages and an increase in humanitarian aid. But if you can see any criticism of the slaughter of children in those demands, I would suggest you need to have your cognitive senses checked.

The other disappointment was Rachel Reeves’s announcement that any investment in new housing must come from private profiteers, rather than the government. In other words: no new council houses.

This means private landlords will own these dwellings, so Labour is continuing the Tory policy of the last 14 years – of passing all the UK’s material assets to the super-rich who don’t need or deserve them.

Are these only the first two of a litany of Labour let-downs that may grow longer than those of the Tories before them?

    This is not unprecedented.

Tony Blair’s government did not improve after the 2005 general election. In his memoirs, he made clear that her did not care at all about the votes lost because of, for example, the Iraq invasion.
