I’d like some advice, please – is ‘pensioners for Gaza’ really a good idea?

I receive the following message a while ago, and have been fretting over what to do about it. Here it is:

Vox can you help me, I want to arrange ships to take pensioners to support Gazans. I am 71 years old my life has been good but I cannot stand by and watch innocents dying. I am willing to sacrifice my life for the Palestinian people. I think the majority of pensioners across Europe will support this and will join the cause. We need ships capable of transporting millions to Palestine to save the population.

Looking at what Israel has just done in Lebanon, I don’t think I can support this in good faith because it’s just too dangerous.

I think if pensioners went to Gaza and tried to protect the population, the Israeli armed forces would say, “They’ve had a good innings,” and kill them alongside the ones they were trying to protect.

I would have great concern about an operation like this getting off the ground.

But what do you think? Am I over-reacting?
