Corbyn calls on Theresa May to ‘act’ as food bank in her constituency begs for supplies

Last Updated: July 15, 2017By

Isn’t this exactly how Theresa May would react if someone asked her to contribute to her local food bank?

Will she do the decent thing and spend some of her vast prime ministerial salary on supplies for the people her policies have so deliberately driven to destitution?

I think we all know the answer to that.

The Daily Mirror‘s article describes the fact that her local foodbank is begging for help as Mrs May’s shame – but the fact is that she has no shame at all.

That’s why she is still hanging on as prime minister, when she should have handed the country over to Jeremy Corbyn more than a month ago.

Theresa May’s local foodbank is appealing for urgent supplies to stop poorer kids going hungry in the school holidays.

While the Prime Minister presses on with austerity, Maidenhead Foodshare needs locals to “plug the gaps that society leaves”.

Mrs May … became PM after claiming she wanted to help struggling families and those who are “just about managing”.

But she has not deviated from the austerity path.

Her latest move is a £5 billion tax cut for the biggest corporations while refusing to halt welfare cuts for families or scrap the one per cent public sector pay cap.

Let us also bear in mind the fact that Mrs May’s election manifesto included a plan to scrap free school dinners.

Mr Corbyn, of course, has responded to the situation in his own polite way:

It’s polite… but, of course, it’s also devastating.

£1 Billion for the DUP yet there is no money to change the dangerous & illegal cladding on thousands of schools & hospitals. Asbestos & illegal cladding which produces cyanide poisoning is a death trap waiting to happen. It takes 6 more Tories & DUP to make a sackable tweet for the Tories to lose their majority. Result General Election.

Even Theresa May can drive a train of bribery for the DUP. So even disabled people can drive a train for a sexist Phillip Hammond. Tory Disability Hate Crime with DWP Assisted Suicide as DWP Policy. Work Pays [The DUP – Tories getting a 15% pay rise & what important job do they do in their Denial Factory Dictatorship !!!

PFI Tower Block Cladding run by the HM Treasury to get the cheaper illegal toxic cladding either on Grenfell Tower or Chalcots Estate in Swiss Cottage. Scared to tell us that over 400 people died in Genfell Tower.

More people have died in the UK from Tory policy from Welfare Reform to 1% pay caps over the past 7 years than have died in war zones like Syria & Iraq combined.

High Treason is a charge against the Empire because Theresa May you are not the Queen of Maggy Thatcher. Blame Dodgy Dave & Rupert Murdoch Theresa May.

As a disabled person the cull of the disabled is a shameful fact in British History that can not be controlled by a lazy dictatorship use European Laws to save their arses against the UN Breaches of the disabled. So new UK Human Rights Laws that will kill off all disabled people in the UK. Once that is done the low paid workers will be killed off. The Welfare State & the NHS have already been killed off making £100s of Billions for the politicians first job which is Corporate Business. Politics is their part time job helping Rupert Murdoch with propaganda & brainwashing using the disabled as scrounging scapegoats.

Human Rights for all not the few.

Food backs will now be run by Serco & G4s which will introduce a vetting system called mandatory reconsideration to go to a food bank. Except the Tories have now scrapped mandatory reconsideration aka no appeal system like no legal aid or food banks because there is not a food bank problem. So the Tories are spending £1Billion to prove that by now getting ATOS involved.

The “Magic Money Tree” is there, it seems, for the private use of the corrupt Tories and nobody else.

The Trussell trust which started out supplying Food Banks to Bulgaria, implemented them first in the UK in 2004, which was before the collapse that so many people blame for them, although the use has ballooned since.

Yes indeed. Food bank use definitely increased exponentially after that financial collapse. What was the point you were trying to make?

@Barry Davies In 2004 the Trussell Trust had 2 food banks in the UK primarily aimed at asylum seekers. That figure began to shoot up after the crash exponentially reaching 252 by 2012. That’s a percentage increase of over 12,000. A 1000% increase on 2 (inc the original 2) would be 22, a 10,000% increase would be from 2 to 202 also inc original 2.)
The above sounds shocking, almost unbelievable. However many people, not surprisingly, get confused by percentages. This works to politicians advantage.
For instance when the cons increased VAT from 17.5% to 20% many thought this represented an increase of 2.5% in VAT. It didn’t; it represented an increase of 2.5p in the pound… not the same thing at all. The actual percentage increase was 14.25%.
If VAT of 17.5% had really only increased by 2.5%, then it would have increased by 0.44p…. bit of a difference!
I bet if this increase had been correctly described as a near 15% increase there would have been a much larger outcry than there actually was.
The converse is also true. When the cons reduced the 50% tax rate to 45%, it didn’t decrease by 5%, it decreased by 10%. This is because a 5p in the pound reduction from 50p in the pound is 10% NOT 5%.
If more people understood percentages, there’s no way any political party, but especially the cons, could get away with the financial confusion/nonsense they spin to their advantage.
Here’s a link for you; there are many more if you want to find out more. Just google history of Trussell Trust.
