Condemned? Theresa May seems PROUD of consigning children to homelessness this Christmas

Theresa May should be tarred and feathered for this.

At a time when her government is being pilloried for its cruelty, with more than 130,000 children homeless and expected to wake up in temporary accommodation this Christmas, while more than 9,000 people will be waking up on the streets, she did this at Prime Minister’s Questions:

People are dying on the streets, and Mrs May thinks that is an appropriate response.

Clearly, we are not doing enough to eject her from her own current residence at 10 Downing Street.

Here’s some background information, courtesy of The Independent:

The Government has been condemned for taking an “unacceptably complacent” attitude towards tackling homelessness, as soaring numbers of people are forced to live on the streets or in temporary accommodation.

A damning report by the cross-party Public Accounts Committee (PAC) said ministerial attempts to solve the “national crisis” had ended in “abject failure”.

Figures show more than 9,000 people are sleeping rough on the streets of England at any one time – up 134 per cent since 2011. Over 79,000 households, including 120,000 children, are meanwhile homeless and living in temporary accommodation – a rise of 65 per cent since 2010.

Recent research by charity Shelter revealed that child homelessness has reached a 10-year high, with nearly 130,000 children in Britain set to wake up homeless and in temporary accommodation this Christmas.

I watched PMQs. May did not deny the numbers but she really has no comprehension of the bad conditions that prevail in the “bed and breakfast” “accommodation” where councils are putting people. (More to the point she does not care either.)
The BBC are showing those nasty places on news bulletins today.

my granddaughter was put into a hotel with her 2 week old baby after the landlady of the room she rented gave her 2 weeks notice to quit when she was still in hospital. to start the day she left hospital…there was no food provided. just a kettle. no cooking facilities. she was there a few days. they then gave her an upstairs flat as temp accommodation, miles away from her family , none of who could afford to get to her in an emergency. one member cant do steps, has to use taxis. all liver in one bed accommodation but even if we had taken her in which i would have done gladly in spite of the squash(she would have had to sleep on cushions on the floor though) but was told if any of us took her in (us being her dad, me or her aunt, ) she would lose any chance of being given permanent accommodation. they have just put her application up to band A from band B so she may not be in that flat much longer. she needs to be nearer us, on our side of town where we can help by babysitting, or anything she may need.at present its very difficult for her. i know they use both that hotel and this flat shes in now as emergency and temp accommodation on a very regular basis. far from ideal but a roof iver their eadas. she is living in the bedroom, being smallest room and can keep that warm for less.

Every prime ministers questions she fails to answer any questions, whats the point.
I would have hit her with the stats she lied about last week.
It’s a pointless exercise if she lies and bullshits her way through it, oh sorry that’s conservative politics.

All we can do is voice our opinion on these atrocities which are happening in Britain today. And vote for a humane society at the next General Election for a fairer, decent, society for all of us living in Britain!

It’s hard to believe this is happening in Britain, a wealthy country!

It’s terrible enough to be happening’s in third world countries! That people are homeless, and without food! If it wasn’t for food banks, and charities, many more people would be dying in Britain today, through the greed,of the wealthy, who won’t pay their fair share if tax even! These people wouldn’t be rich if it weren’t for the many! Who work and have no choice but pay their taxes!
