Six Tory ministers are members of a secret group supporting Brexit for their own reasons

People who still argue fervently for the UK’s departure from the European Union still haven’t got to grips with this simple fact:

The leaders of the biggest ‘Leave’ campaigns didn’t want to free the UK from EU interference; they simply want all the power for themselves.

All their talk about freeing us from an undemocratic power bloc is nonsense.

They want to reduce our access to democracy still further, ensuring that they make all the decisions and the rest of us have no choice but to do as we are told – without recourse to the international checks and balances offered by the EU.

Hence the proposal by Michael Gove – a member of the group – to strip UK workers of the protections offered by the European Working Time Directive.

It should be no surprise that Suella Fernandez, who wrote a ridiculous propaganda piece on Brexit in The Independent which This Writer rubbished last week, chairs this secretive organisation.

They want to distract us with inconsequentialities like the colour of our passports.

Go on believing that this nonsense matters, if you want.

Alternatively, wake up and recognise your oppressors.

Six leading members of Theresa May’s cabinet are paid-up subscribers of the secretive European Research Group, the hard-line anti-EU caucus of Conservative MPs who have serially refused to publish their membership list.

Michael Gove, the environment secretary, Penny Mordaunt, the newly-promoted defence secretary, David Gauke, the work and pensions secretary, Sajid Javid, the communities and local government secretary, Andrea Leadsom, the Leader of the House of Commons, and Chris Grayling, the transport secretary, have all used official expenses claims to pay for “ERG subscriptions” over the last 12 months.

Stewart Jackson, who lost his Peterborough seat in June’s general election, and is now chief of staff to David Davis at the Department for Exiting the European Union, also used his official expenses to pay for ERG services during the last years.

Five other subscriptions from former Tory cabinet ministers and whips, plus the current chair of the ERG, means this group alone have claimed more than £32,000 from the public purse.

  1. I agree, this is more about taking over complete control of our country by way of dictatorship in order to further the already super rich at the expense of our reputation abroad and certainly with little regard for the benefit of the majority of normal decent working people. Time to put a stop to it before it is too late!

  2. Paul Grayshan

It has been evident in our household for some time that the “Brexit” campaign has been a power-grab by neo-cons. The right in the UK has never wanted to be part of Europe, and have always made the rest of us seem like “bad Europeans”. Going off at a bit of a tangent – nothing in life is unconnected to anything else – you might be interested in Michael Brooks book “At the Edge of Uncertainty”, especially the chapter “Will to live”; to cut quite a long story short, stress is bad for us, and it seems to inhibit our immune systems, and we feel ill and become ill more easily. Could it be for example that if people (e.g. benefit claimants who are put under severe stress by government) were able to lead more useful and contented lives, they might not be ill as often, and so the NHS would not be over-burdened to the point of collapse? Developing what Brooks writes about a stage further, it might be that good humanitarian SOCIALISM is good for us, whereas Conservatism and capitalism are not. Just a thought!

Surely using public money, in the form of expenses, in order to be a member of a non-parliamentary group is fraud?

  4. Brian

Such abuse of public money verges on the treasonable. They should be made to pay these expenses from their own pocket, then lets see their commitment to such unsavory acts.

Incidentally the BBC should also be held to account for propagating such propaganda, the daily issue of biased tripe from this public body is becoming most distasteful.

‘Penny Mordaunt, the newly-promoted defence secretary,’

    Have I missed something, here?

    1. Mike Sivier

      No, you’ve spotted something.
The source article was inaccurate; she’s the newly-promoted international development Secretary.

What is there to say , except that the TORIES are all the same ,not a decent one amongst them , they are all SCUM not worth the paper that I wipe my backside with.

As far as the Tories are concerned are we at all surprised that there is a secret group behind their version of Brexit, who do we think these people are and with what connections to the grand old United States of America?

    https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2011/oct/15/liam-fox-atlantic-bridge

Here is a list and description of Tory ministers who were involved with Atlantic Bridge:

The Atlantic Bridge Research and Education Scheme was an educational charity founded in 1997 with Margaret Thatcher as its president to promote Atlanticism, an ideology of cooperation between the United Kingdom and the United States regarding political, economic, and defence issues. It was set up by Liam Fox, former Secretary of State for Defence of the United Kingdom.[1] Cabinet ministers Michael Gove, George Osborne and William Hague,[2] and Chris Grayling have previously sat on its advisory panel, as have American senators Jon Kyl, Lindsey Graham and Joe Lieberman. The organisation’s principal staff included Catherine Bray (US Executive Director), Adam Werritty (UK Executive Director) and Kara Watt (Operations Director).[2]

It was dissolved in September 2011, following a critical report from the Charity Commission the previous year.[3][4]

    Wiki Link here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Atlantic_Bridge

The whole Neo-Liberal agenda is encapsulated in everything these Tories are currently doing, the problem is people don’t know it’s happening.

Atlantic Bridge was forced to dissolve as an educational charity because of course it was nothing of the sort, but was a political organisation peddling right wing ideology as though it were gospel.

When Theresa May gaily danced arm in arm with Trump, it was not really for British consumption, but an overt expression of solidarity with the right wing tea party fanatics in America, that we are all in it together, or at least them and the Tories are.

What we need to focus on is not Brexit, but what the Tories are actually up to, in short we need to explain the background behind the Tory connections and those of Neo-Liberal politicians in Europe as well.

Whilst we are fiddling about with irrelevant details the Tories are continuing at pace to dismantle the state as we speak, that is the ultimate agenda, and American corporate power will be ruling the roost.

Watch out guys. Jon Danzig of Reasons2Remain has been attacked on FB as have I. Intent is to shut us up for a while. Jon has been quite vociferous in condemning MSM especially the Mail. So be advised

Thanks. I do, kind of, invite that kind of attention, I’m sorry to say.
