Humiliation: Esther McVey.

Who reckons the Tories have had legal advice that they will lose at tribunal, and decided not to go through the double humiliation of having to hand over the information and being pilloried for wasting public money on a pointless court battle?

I do.

Tory ministers have finally agreed to release humiliating secret reviews of Universal Credit in a major U-turn.

Work and Pensions Secretary Esther McVey today announced she was giving up a two-year battle to hide the ‘Project Assessment Reviews’ from the public.

It comes just weeks before her refusal to publish the documents was due to be challenged at a top tribunal.

The memos studied the progress of the Tories’ flagship benefit shake-up between 2012 and 2015.

Of ten reviews that were completed not a single one gave UC a “green” rating, a clean bill of health.

Proving this Government, and its cabal of civil servant friends, do not have an gram of common sense. They totaly ignored the huge ground swell of unhappiness with the whole sorry calamity when it was first launched as a crock of something.and poured more of taxpayers valuable money trying to create the holy grail of data processing to try and manage the beast.
