WATCH: Israeli talk show host points out his country’s hypocrisy – and his rant has gone viral

Last Updated: May 19, 2018By

I found this on the Facebook page of a friend of mine. He happens to be Jewish.

Israeli talk show host Assaf Harel has caused an international stir with his commentary on the way his country treats the people of Gaza.

On the satirical show Laila Tov (it means “Good Night”), he said- well, hear it for yourself:

“Humaneness? What does that have to do with us?”

“Are you kidding? Apartheid has been here for ages.”

“We’ve been abusing the Palestinians on a daily basis for years, denying them their basic rights.”

“In the West Bank, we’re taking their properties from them.”

“For years we’ve been deepening the hatred – the same hatred that we later complain about in peace talks.”

“Just don’t tell us what’s really happening.”

Every word is accurate – although I notice he stops short of some of the more obvious comparisons.

For example, look at the man in the infographic at the top of this article.

He is in a wheelchair because his legs were shot to pieces by an Israeli Defence Force sniper (or several of them).

Can you think of another regime, in history, that allowed its soldiers to mutilate members of another race living in the same country, for fun?

Of course, supporters of Israel would say it is anti-Semitic to suggest any similarity. However, as I made clear in a previous article, allegations of anti-Semitism can only be accurate if the claims are untrue.

And the UK cannot claim any moral high ground because our government is complicit in the Israeli regime’s activities.

Who do you think sold Israel the guns those snipers have been using?

NOTE: I wrote this article late on the evening of May 18, believing the clip to have been made in the last few days. In fact, it is a year old. Every word still rings true, though. It stands as an even worse indictment against the government of that country than I stated in the article – because nobody with the ability to change the situation took a blind bit of notice. Our conclusion must be that these people know what they are and are determined both to continue their persecution of people belonging to another race – and to dodge criticism with accusations of anti-Semitism.

Video is over a year old, nobody listened judging by recent events.

That video is a year old in fact, so it won’t have been prompted by the massacre. But everything Harel says is still true.

The Israeli/Zionists are doing to the Palestinians what Hitler did to the Jews.

  4. why can’t we criticize the Israeli government – ?

    • Tony Turtle May 19, 2018 at 3:54 pm - Reply

Because, if we criticise them, like criticising the members of the Bloods and Crips in the USA, we are suposedly doing so because of race or religion. This, if the last part of the last sentence were true, would mean the accusation of racism or anti-semitism was true.

The line “Ali G” used to spout, “Is it cos I am black” was a defence many of coloured races use when confronted by authority figures, the racism card has two sides and it gets played both ways. Yes, there is racism out there, but until we all start to see that there is a chance for the coloured people to be regarded on equal terms, their youth will not look toward a life of crime. Until the politicians in Israel accept that they were forced into what was Palestine after the Second World War, and they should treat their neighbours as they treat themselves, there will be no peace in the Holy Land.

After all, it would shock the politicians of both sides to realise that their “enemy” had the same type of blood flowing through their veins and could give them a blood transfusion if something happened.

I think criticism will have to be by association i.e. Gaza Ghetto, how long until Israel switch from tear gas to Zyklon-B, are there any plans to build incinerators or railways, etc etc.

It’s sad that Israel has become Frankenstein’s Monster and Monstrous that Palestinians have had to pay the price for seventy years; over 5 million ethnically cleansed and their their homes and land thieved by a murderous apartheid system that treats the indigents worse than I could ever treat my dog – far worse. At least 20% of Israel’s population are at odds with the neo nazi policies. The Jewish monitor in the occupied territories, BT’selem have now given up reporting the abuses and atrocities to the IDF for the simple reason that nothing ever gets done to apply justice for those embattled by this evil apartheid system.

It’s that ‘right wing’ thing again: it’s a ‘mind-set’: a ‘type’! Whether in Israel or the UK it apparently comes with ‘the amazing ability to ignore what is happening’! Seems like they’re still waiting for the great awakening’ out there too. What will it take, I wonder, to wake so many? And when?

The parallels with the English in South Africa during the apartheid regime are chilling!

With the ENGLISH in South Africa? You mean the Afrikaans.
