Tories axe £10 Christmas bonus for people on Universal Credit

The spite of the Tory rich knows no limits.

Even in the so-called Season of Goodwill, they delight in hurting others.

Let’s be honest, the £10 Christmas bonus for benefit claimants isn’t anything like the boost it was when it was introduced in 1972 or thereabouts – but it was still a valuable piece of public relations for our penny-pinching, privileged government of the wealthy.

Not any more, it seems. The Department for Work and Pensions has confirmed that the bonus is not being paid to anybody claiming Universal Credit.

Notice that no announcement was made; claimants had to find out for themselves.

But now the news is spreading, courtesy of the Twitterati:

With the Tory government teetering on the brink of oblivion due to prime minister Theresa May’s recklessness over Brexit, this could be a disastrous miscalculation – an act of selfishness affecting millions of people.

Spread the word.

Its almost as if they’re deliberately searching for ways to be nastier, and more and more vindictive. The evil bullies.

What Christmas bonus is this? I’ve been on JSA for years but I have NEVER received an extra tenner at Xmas!

It was for people on disability benefits… so not only have tories scrapped disability living allowance and replaced it with personal independence payments, causing thousands of genuinely disabled people, who can’t work, to lose out on vital funding to help them survive, the tory scum decide to take a tenner off the rest of them at Christmas… I would say if you were getting a tenner bonus every december with Jsa, the tories would cut that off you too and you’d be pretty p*ssed off lol… time to make tax havens illegal I think

Bonus: a sum of money added to a person’s wages as a reward for good performance.

I am not saying she is right to pull the rug but people have relied on something not set in stone.

The sheer contempt this Tory government has got for the poor is disgusting beyond words…

They have already removed the £10 from some people. I was on ESA and DLA (lifetime) and the Christmas Bonus was always paid to me via DLA. After the PIP assessment when I scored 0 points, even though I was still on ESA I did not receive the £10 last Christmas (2017).

18 months on I am still waiting for my appeal. It had to be adjourned once due to the DWP leaving out a load of papers from the bundle they send to the Courts and Tribunal. They left out letters from Consultants and most of the sheets in which I had described how I lived day to day and how my conditions affected me. Luckily I had listed them on the PIP forms so the Tribunal could work this out. The hold up now is the DWP still haven’t sent the info. the Tribunal demanded from them.

They will never stop removing the money from those already worse off than themselves. This is the way it has always been. the only puzzle is why anybody who is not wealthy would even consider voting for these animals. Are we sure they are even human beings?

God she is so f*****g mean and evil.. bunch of bloody scrooges £10 (which is not much nowadays) in 1972 that was a decent bonus. .
& IDS claiming for a £39 breakfast . . and millionaire Nadhim Zahawi trying to get the taxpayers to pay his electric bill to keep the stables warm for his poor horses eh? and the poor devils that are homeless & sleeping on the streets,no doubt there will be a few more deaths to add to the ever-growing list. . it’s sickening it really is . . . I pray that the next GE (hopefully very soon) Labour wins it hands down
They have to win surely ?
    grrr

I haven’t had a bonus for years, and cold weather payments are non existent.
