Matt Goodwin is a Professor of Politics at the University of Kent – and is therefore well-placed to say how the Tories may fare at the next general election.

His verdict? If they go into it on a platform of tax cuts and cuts to public services, they will be wiped out.

He gives his reasons here:

Have YOU donated to my crowdfunding appeal, raising funds to fight false libel claims by TV celebrities who should know better? These court cases cost a lot of money so every penny will help ensure that wealth doesn’t beat justice.

If only! But, of course, the Tories WON’T go into the next election on a platform of tax cuts and austerity. (Have they ever?)
They will have a platform of ending immigration, challenging the EU for spoiling Brexit, rejecting the insidious threat of “wokeism” (which is probably a live issue for Daily Mail readers) and ending soft sentences for violent offenders (See above re Daily Mail readers). If they are lucky, they can portray Putin’s Russia as an enormous threat that Labour will not protect us from.
