US Presidential election: if you want to know the future, watch The Simpsons!

It reminds me of the moment when Doctor Who predicted the election of Margaret Thatcher in a 1975 episode, when a character on the phone to the UK’s prime minister said, “Yes, Ma’am,” four years early.

The Simpsons seems to do it more often, though. Referring to Biden’s withdrawal from the US election campaign and endorsement of his VP, Kamala Harris as his successor, LadBible had this to say:

Fans were quick to notice something about Harris and a seemingly obvious link with The Simpsons ahead of her potential presidency campaign.

In an episode that first aired 24 years ago, Lisa Simpson donned a purple suit when she was elected President 30 years in the future, after a disastrous Donald Trump term as the leader of the US.

Fans realised that Lisa’s purple suit looked strikingly similar to that of Kamala Harris, when Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President in January 2021.

One user said: “Remember when Lisa was President of The United States on The Simpsons? Was that Kamala Harris?”

Another posted: “Not for nothing but the Simpsons already predicted this….”

A third shared: “The Simpsons has done it again! Here’s from the 17th episode of the 11th season (in the year 2000) showing Lisa Simpson as the first female president of the United States talking about how the country is broke after President Trump. And, here’s Kamala wearing the same outfit at Biden’s inauguration.”

So, is Kamala Harris supposed to be Lisa Simpson? It’s a nice thought, but This Writer isn’t sure the current VP is intelligent enough for that.
