UK’s growth forecast has been slashed but you won’t see any of it anyway

The UK’s growth forecast has been slashed but you won’t see any of it anyway – so why worry about it?

The Bank of England has halved its growth forecast for 2025 from 1.5 per cent to 0.75 per cent.

But this is money going to big corporations and organisation, employers, shareholders and board members. It doesn’t have anything to do with employees or other ordinary people.

Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves won’t tax the rich on the huge profits they make, preferring to rely on the mythical “trickle-down effect” that Starmer himself once described as a “piss take”.

So don’t panic about the economy; it won’t worsen your finances any more than they already have been.

If you’ve got a mortgage, you might benefit from the interest rate drop from 4.75 per cent to 4.5 per cent, but that is a side-effect of what the bank wants to achieve.

Lowering interest rates encourages businesses to spend or invest their money and is intended to aid economic recovery and that is why the Bank has done it.

So relax – it’s not about you. And the only way it will be is when you actually put your head above the parapet and demand it.
