Another Daily Mail anti-Corbyn smear falls apart

Mandy Blumenthal: The Daily Mail really couldn’t help itself. This is supposed to be a serious businesswoman but the Mail had to use a shot of her posing like a glamour model because – well, have you never glanced at the column on the right-hand side of the Mail’s website?

Credit where credit is due: The BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire blew this Daily Mail smear apart.

And how she do it?

Simply by pointing out the inaccuracies in Mandy Blumenthal’s narrative:

And according to the Electronic Intifada‘s Asa Winstanley, Ms Blumenthal has actually intended to leave the UK for more than a year.

It would be interesting to see the source of this information.

In the meantime, we can see that Ms Blumenthal’s criticisms of Jeremy Corbyn are unfounded.

One point, though: Did you notice that Ms Derbyshire mentioned the Labour Party being quicker to suspend “anti-Semites”? Not people suspected of anti-Semitism.

Clearly the rush to end the fundamental principle of British justice – that a defendant is innocent until proven guilty – is well-entrenched in the BBC.

A Jewish businesswoman whose father was Lord Mayor of Birmingham is leaving Britain, blaming anti-Semitism in politics and the failure of the authorities to enforce the law.

Mandy Blumenthal, 52, pointed the finger at Jeremy Corbyn for ‘giving oxygen’ to Jew haters by failing to punish racist outbursts from his supporters.

And she claimed anti-Semitic hate crime was being ‘swept under the carpet’ because the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) was not taking enough offenders through the courts.

I watched the Victoria Derbyshire show when this went out. The complaints of anti semetism were light on detail or evidence. The couple did no service to anyone who has genuinely suffered racial or religious based aggression, because they left the impression of grossly inflating things for a political purpose. There seemed to have been one incident for which the perpetrator was jailed. They made no clear case for racial prejudice, slurs or attacks being linked to Labour Party policy or the current leadership. I like Victoria Derbyshire’s style of discussion, because she is gentle and respectful and gives people time to make their points, but also presents the other side of the story.

If you are a humanitarian you could not stand by and ignore the Palestinian suffering. That is all Jeremy Corbyn is guilty off. Apologies should come from Netanyahu he has far more to apologize for. Stop let Israel dictate to Britain, it has nothing to do with Jews it is viscious politics.

If the courts are failing, Ms. Blumenthal needs to use her voice an an M.P. to strengthen the law, not to attack Jeremy Corbyn! This is what frustrates me, hate speech is a crime; if a crime has been committed, report it to the police and have due process bring about justice, don’t go to the Media, to besmirch the reputation of (I assume) your Party’s leader! Friend of Israel, or not, she is doing Jews no favours and having Jewish friends, my best friend of the last 18 years among them, this disturbs me. He, himself, said that talk of anti-Semitism breeds anti-Semitism and Kennth Stern, lead drafter of the I.H.R.A. “working definition” of anti-Semitism, said, “when you make it about Jews, you lose.”
Those two claim that the “level of anti-Semitism, in this country, has become so severe that they no longer feel safe living here.” I’ve one thing to say to them; try being “black.” Okay, 2 things; try being Pakistani Muslim!

Ms Blumenthal is not an MP. She’s a businesswoman (and apparently a leader of Israeli political party Likud’s UK offshoot).
She is absolutely nothing to do with the Labour Party and I wonder where you picked up that impression.

Firstly, one wonders where she is moving to? secondly, praise to the interviewer who had thankfully done some research on the story and was very honest in her questioning and responses to statements. This time, thank you BBC.

Well and truly put down, though their argument was so weak it was not a difficult job, just one that needed to be done. The guy didn’t have a come back but seemed to think he needed to say something, no matter how stupid it made him look.

So basically she’s so scared of anti-Semitism that she’s resorted to provocative poses showing off her cleavage. Fear does weird things to people.
