He introduced rules demanding that we must bring specific forms of identification to elections – and then Boris Johnson was turned away from a polling station after failing to bring voter ID.
Boris Johnson was criticised for introducing the law that requires voters to bring any of 22 forms of identification to polling stations – because it was not necessary. In-person election fraud in the UK is negligible.
Many of us (This Writer is included in the group) believed that the rules in the Elections Act 2022 were intended to stop people who were not Conservative voters from exercising their democratic right to vote.
Johnson himself confirmed this during a televised press conference that year:
Incredible. When I told Boris Johnson three years ago that his Voter ID law would stop people from being able to vote he told me I was talking "total nonsense"

Among the forms of ID that the law now considers acceptable are passports, driving licences, older or Disabled Person’s bus passes and Oyster 60+ cards.
People who are registered to vote can also apply for a free document known as a Voter Authority Certificate.
And what did Johnson bring? An envelope with his name and address on it.
Hoist by his own petard!
