Tory economic policies at work: Britain falls another place in world rankings

Theresa May visiting India last year. Who knows? She may have been buying shares in Indian companies; people like her know how to land on their feet [Image: Getty].

This is the result of Conservative economics; they simply don’t know how to run a country.

All that tommyrot about the nation’s economy being like a household budget was an indication of the way the wind was blowing.

But those of us who knew it was nonsense didn’t expect the Tories themselves to believe it.

Well, it seems they do.

And Brexit will make matters worse – the unforeseen and unwanted result of an internal squabble within the Conservative Party.

It will weaken the economy to an extent we do not yet know. The prediction in the Mirror article, quoted below, is that it won’t be as bad as many expect and the UK will bounce back above France (while remaining below India), to be the world’s number six economy again.

But you’d be a fool to expect that under a Conservative government.

India has leapfrogged Britain and France to become the world’s fifth biggest economy.

The Asian giant seized the spot as the UK prepares for Brexit, according to the 2018 World Economic League Table.

This is not surprising or new. I have said before. People, society, business, commerce and trade need to be independent and separate from the ups and downs of an ego led, bankhanded govt changing every 5 years. and the mad house that is Parliament.

I have said people have to make their own arrangements and create a separate alternative economy -not bloody social-anarchist as we are inthe real world and need to be strong enough and intelligent to survive in a real economy with global competitors.

Business, commerce and trade will get on with it, behind govt backs and try and make business and trade and the financial sector continue seamless as they are not going to throw away and risk billions of pounds in trade and business with Europe, they just agree EU is a iron chain on a ball which stops everything.

I would not trust this govt, I would not trust a Corbyn govt as not enough are behind him, and actually some of his private personal ideas are unelectable, and would not trust Labour, look what they have done while in govt, while in opposition, during leadership election, and the second election and the dirty tricks they play and are still playing.

This country will go down on a Ship of Fools. We have to cast ourselves separate and make sure our money, income, assets and endeavour actually does something, not put our power and money into someone else;s hands again

I am fed up of giving good money after bad and being persuaded to spend my time and efforts on a bunch of shites.

F–k OFF! NOT ONE PENNY MORE. is what I say to any Labour table, bucket or socialist table.

Business, commerce and trade must be regulated by democratic means, otherwise the workforce will suffer at the hands of boardroom members and shareholders. That is the lesson of history. So industry must never be separated from government.

What on Earth makes you suggest that support for Jeremy Corbyn is in the minority? And why do you mention his “private personal ideas” which are not Labour Party policy? Mr Corbyn leads a democratic socialist party, in case you haven’t noticed. And democracy in the Labour Party is growing stronger all the time. Your claims about the party’s past are not relevant now.

Your last line indicates your real interest. You think Labour will take money away from you. Is your income in the top five per cent category, then?

And please don’t use foul language in any comment as this will only result in that comment being deleted.

Good to have you back Mike. Take care of yourself as we really need you to help us get rid of this foul government.

It should not surprise any one of us that Britain is falling below the emerging nations because we are no longer an exporting country as in the past, but a net importing country that buys in other peoples finished goods. When some of us pointed out that standing by in the 1980/90s and watching all those companies transferring to the far east would not end well for us, we were met with the comment of, “well we can buy all those things much cheaper than we can produce ourselves”. Forgetting of course how in the long term we can afford to pay our way in the world if we produce less and less.

In truth for Britain we can’t compete against the emerging countries as our population is too small, and we would need to reduce our standard of living in line with theirs. We all use the same technology and it really is a nonsense to think that we can grow world trade indefinitely, there are not the raw material resources available to do that and we just aren’t big enough to pay the price competition would demand.

We need a new paradigm, that being self sufficiency, we have to realise that as a sovereign nation, we can spend into our own economy as much as is needed to meet whatever needs our people require, that we can build a sustainable economy without having to import almost everything as we do today; and that will take planning not free marketing; with a government that works for people and not corporations.

Yet working class people still believe the Tory propaganda and the dishonest myth that only Tories can be trusted with the economy.
