More than 180,000 people have lost disability benefits. Esther McVey must be devastated it isn’t more

Esther McVey.

Ms McVey, the new Work and Pensions Secretary, was aiming for 300,000 people to lose their benefit in the transfer from Disability Living Allowance to Personal Independence Payment.

So far, 180,000 have suffered the loss of benefits in the transfer – which is designed to deprive people of the cash they need to live; don’t believe the DWP spokespeople about this – judge by the effect it has on its victims.

But PIP rollout is behind schedule, and it seems the aim is now that all working age DLA claimants will have received their invitation letters by late 2018, with the final assessments and transfers not being completed until mid-2019.

So Ms McVey may get her wish yet – especially considering her new job.

This Writer would dearly like to see this prevented.

More than 180,000 people have lost disability payments because of cruel Tory benefit reforms.

The government began phasing out the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) in favour of controversial Personal Independence Payment (PIP) in April 2013.

Assessments carried out by infamous private contractors Atos and Capita have led to 125,000 and 64,000 claims being disallowed respectively.

In total, 19 per cent of claims assessed by Atos were rejected by the DWP, while for Capita it was 24 per cent.

Somewhere (guardian?) I read that they haven’t been able to make the required 600,000 cuts to the transferring group (DLA to pip) and so new claims are being failed at a much higher rate to compensate and meet the targets. This is where the Tory DWP commonality with other eugenics programmes has always been at its most visible, and its most visceral.

The smile of death hand picked for the job I bet she would just have loved to be in-charge of a concentration camp
