Typical Tories: They did nothing about Islamophobia in their party until it was highlighted in the media

A moderator of a pro-Boris Johnson Facebook group has had his membership of the Conservative Party suspended after media reports that the group contained Islamophobic posts and comments.

But you wouldn’t be able to tell that from this Independent article! It completely ignores the fact that Tory chairman Brandon Lewis only acted after the Islamophobia of the “Boris Johnson: Supporters’ Group” was highlighted by left-wing news site Evolve Politics.

You can read the Evolve piece here.

This Site also ran an article in support.

The announcement is welcome, but is indicative of the Tories’ attitude to wrong-doing in their party; they only act after they’ve been exposed.

I wonder whether they’re planning to do anything after This Site’s piece on convicted paedophiles who are still, apparently, members of the Conservative Party?

Here’s what the Independent published:

A Tory councillor has been suspended by the Conservative Party, after a Facebook group he moderates was found to contain several Islamophobic and racist comments.

Martyn York, a Conservative councillor in Wellingborough, was a moderator for “Boris Johnson: Supporters’ Group”, which included comments calling for the bombing of mosques around the UK.

You’ll notice one significant fact is missing – that the offending Facebook group included Islamophobic posts as well as comments.

Why would the Independent want to protect the Conservative Party and its members from that kind of exposure?

It should also be noted that unlike the Labour Party ordinary members of the Tory Party are not subject to any code of conduct. The Tory’s code of conduct only applies to those acting as an official representative of their party.

As John McTernan (FFS) illustrates in his article in the FT the scope of ‘anti Semitism’ is apparently ever expanding and all encompassing.

As the FT is behind a paywall (for the benefit of non FT subscribers) here’s AAV’s take on it

After rambling on pretentiously for paragraph after paragraph McTernan eventually comes out with surely one of the most delusional and self-awareness deficient sentences ever to have featured in the Financial Times.
“Rhetoric about the 1 per cent and economic inequality has the same underlying theme [as anti-Semitic tropes] — a small group of very rich people who cleverly manipulate others to defend their interests. So anti-capitalism masks and normalises anti-Semitism”
This extraordinary effort to conflate legitimate criticisms of issues like capitalism and inequality with anti-Jewish bigotry is extraordinary on so many levels.

According to McTernan’s warped worldview anyone who points out that just 8 men own the same wealth as half the world is being anti-Semitic!
